See yourself working here Reporting to the relevant Network Test leadership team, the Engineering Officer Testing will undertake engineering-related and technical activities to support the safety, reliability, sustainability and affordability of Ausgrid’s electricity network. This role provides a specialist testing and measurement service to support and optimise the performance and reliability of the organisation’s network. You will be involved in high voltage testing, cable fault location, commissioning, condition assessment, field survey work, calibration activities, technical reporting and support for planned and reactive network activities. The role requires strong technical capability, sound judgement and the ability to plan, coordinate and deliver work safely across a complex operating environment. You will work closely with internal teams, field crews, schedulers, contractors, customers and other stakeholders to ensure work is planned, documented and delivered to the required standards. You may also be required to prepare and review technical documentation, including estimates, Safe Work Method Statements, NATA-endorsed reports, technical instructions, Network Access Requests and other system-based work documentation. This role is suited to someone with proven practical experience in electrical testing, high voltage assets and electricity distribution network operations. Key responsibilities In this role, you will be responsible for: <ul> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Undertaking engineering-related and technical activities to provide an effective testing and measurement service across Ausgrid’s network.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Planning, leading and conducting complex high voltage testing, commissioning and fault location activities, resourcing and coordinating labour, plant, equipment, materials and contracted services to support safe and efficient delivery of scheduled work, for complete projects or part thereof.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Supporting and optimising network performance and reliability through accurate testing, analysis, reporting and recommendations. Preparing, interpreting and applying relevant engineering and technical documents, including policies, standards, codes, legislation and safe working procedures.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Producing, reviewing and auditing of work instructions, policies, standards, codes and procedures as required.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Planning system outages, including preparation and submission of Network Access Requests. Use of relevant systems and databases to manage engineering, technical, asset and network information.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Undertaking technical investigations, data analysis, assessment, and calculations for the resolution of technical issues or complaints, reporting to support project or operational activities</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Monitoring or managing costs and financial impacts of work activities in line with budgets, estimates and relevant performance metrics.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Providing technical and procedural advice to stakeholders, including coaching, mentoring and supporting the development of others.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Representing the organisation in external activities, including witness testing, stakeholder meetings and technical discussions.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Undertaking relevant audits, inspections, testing and tagging of plant and equipment, and completing compliance-based documentation.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Supporting response to out-of-hours network faults, failures and breakdowns, including coordination with other work groups and external stakeholders where required.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Undertaking risk assessments to support safe and practical decision making.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Designing, building or modifying plant, equipment and instruments where required to support testing and measurement activities.</li> </ul> Proven practical experience The successful candidate will bring practical experience in areas such as: <ul> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Cable fault location for ratings up to 132kV.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Partial discharge and DDF testing on switchboards, circuit breakers, power transformers, voltage transformers and current transformers.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">High voltage withstand testing and commissioning of electrical equipment and complete substations.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Testing of mobile elevating work platforms and associated equipment rated up to 132kV.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Regulatory testing of safety and live line equipment.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">High voltage commissioning, resonance testing, GIS testing and partial discharge fault location.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Field survey work such as thermovision, including preparation of reports, estimated timelines and recommendations for fault rectification.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Use of specialised field equipment such as infrared cameras, corona cameras, TEV equipment and cable scanners.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Application of calibration principles, measurement uncertainty and technical reporting requirements.</li> </ul> What you bring to the role Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but also your passion, attitude and alignment to our core values.
