BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. Electrical designers participate in the development and drafting of designs for automated and semi-automated equipment. The Design Services department uses such tools as AutoCAD®, AutoCAD Electrical®, IntEC® and Inventor® to create concept drawings, detailed designs, elementary drawings, BOMs, wiring diagrams and can also provide design replacement solutions for obsolete components such as relays, motors and circuit cards. RESPONSIBILITIES: <ul> <li>Develop concept designs into detail drawings & bills of materials for equipment, sub-assemblies or product using CAD packages including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Autodesk Inventor.</li> <li>Work in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment with teams of Professional Engineers and Technologists.</li> <li>Produce and update general assembly drawings, interconnection block diagrams, functional block diagrams, cable assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, wiring lists, and bills of material.</li> <li>Selection of instrumentation, control, and power components based on Engineering requirements.</li> <li>Participate in design reviews and occasional customer review meetings, providing resource information and design input.</li> <li>Liaise with customer design and operations personnel to gather site-specific design information.</li> <li>Assist others on specific projects.</li> <li>Accountable for cost and schedule on assigned projects.</li> </ul> REQUIRED: <ul> <li>Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology diploma.</li> <li>AutoCAD experience required, AutoCAD Electrical and Inventor experience an asset.</li> <li>Must have excellent written and verbal English communication skills understandable by a diverse audience</li> <li>Ability to work effectively with others.</li> <li>Possess working knowledge of fundamental drafting technique.</li> <li>Must be able to multitask and work with minimal supervision.</li> <li>Competence in control system design and design processes.</li> <li>Creative problem-solving skills, outstanding analytical abilities, demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work in a project team.</li> <li>Intec or Online wiring experience is an asset</li> <li>3D parametric modeling experience is an asset.</li> <li>Understanding of a broad range of interdisciplinary departments: mechanical, software design, systems engineering and manufacturing.</li> <li>Creative problem-solving skills, outstanding analytical abilities, developing leadership skills and the ability to work in a team.</li> <li>Most importantly…. creative and innovative thinkers!</li> </ul> Desired: <ul> <li>Minimum of 5 years related experience in design of electrical systems with previous electrical and controls design drafting experience.</li> <li>Experience in the CANDU Nuclear Industry.</li> <li>Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or greater qualification. </li> <li>Membership in OACETT or other certifying organization.</li> <li>Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.</li> <li>General understanding of Engineering Change Control (ECC) concepts for the nuclear industry or other industries.</li> </ul> This position may involve work subject to export control regulations.
