About this role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly self-motivated and driven research associate with a background in chemical engineering (or a related discipline).

This role forms part of the battery manufacturing research group at the University of Sheffield. The post holder will work on a Faraday Institute grant (Nextrode) specifically working on research into new multiphase particle and powder engineering methodologies.

The successful candidate will work under the guidance of Professor Rachel Smith in the School of Chemical, Materials and Biological Engineering.

The main aim of the role is to:

Plan and carry out research in modelling and simulation of particulate processes using appropriate software packages (DEM, CFD, FEA, etc.), and be an active member of the Nextrode group. Apply and develop experimental methodology for model verification, parameterisation and validation. Take responsibility for planning and managing project meetings, alongside other consortium members. Present results and communicate with stakeholders.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
