The diesel mechanic inspects, maintains, diagnoses, and repairs designated on-road and off-road equipment to ensure proper vehicle operation and safety, as well as to meet quality, safety, and performance objectives. Location: 7000 Armand-Viau Street, Quebec City, G2C 2G4 Employment Contract: 40 hours/week Shift Schedule: Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM Pay Scale: $38.04 upon hire and $49.00 after 12 months Benefits: <ul> <li>A competitive salary</li> <li>A competitive pension plan;</li> <li>A comprehensive benefits package;</li> <li>An employee and family assistance program</li> <li>An employee stock purchase plan</li> <li>An employee discount program;</li> </ul> Key Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on the vehicle fleet;</li> <li>Analyze, diagnose, and repair components, among other tasks;</li> <li>Order parts;</li> <li>Document and update work orders;</li> <li>Comply with standards established by manufacturers and Purolator;</li> <li>Perform all other tasks related to the smooth operation of the workshop. </li> </ul> Job Requirements: <ul> <li>Hold a DEP in heavy-duty diesel truck mechanics combined with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of a fleet of trucks and trailers</li> <li>Hold a “PEP Card” or possess a certificate of competence issued by the SAAQ (an asset)</li> <li>Hold a Joint Committee competency card (an asset)</li> <li>Hold a wheel-tightening card (for Ontario) (an asset)</li> <li>Hold a Halocarbon (H2) environmental qualification certificate (an asset)</li> <li>Knowledge of maintenance and repair of Volvo D13 and Cummins engines, and Volvo iShift and Eaton automated transmissions (a plus)</li> <li>Fluency in French</li> <li>Good physical strength</li> <li>Be responsible and reliable</li> <li>Be able to lift heavy weights, up to 70 lbs, alone</li> <li>Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 3 or 1 is a plus)</li> <li>Have 3 years of driving experience with a Class 5 license</li> <li>Pass the in-house practical driving test (including defensive driving training tests)</li> <li>Ability to work independently</li> <li>Willingness to learn and improve</li> <li>Basic computer skills</li> </ul> ***The mechanic must provide his or her own tools Desired Qualifications: <ul> <li>Strong organizational skills and versatility</li> <li>Team player.</li> <li>Embody and demonstrate our core competencies at all times: customer focus, communication, collaboration, trust, and personal development.</li> </ul> <div></div> Language Requirement: There are no language requirements for this position.
