The historic Chino mine was among the world&apos;s first low-grade, open-pit copper mines. Today, the operation consists of a 36,000-metric-ton-per-day concentrator that produces copper and a 150-million-pound-per-year solvent extraction/electrowinning plant that produces copper cathode from solution generated by run-of-mine leaching. </p> <p>The community of Silver City boasts various restaurants, arts, entertainment, cliff dwellings, festivals and much more. Visit <a href="https://www.visitsilvercity.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Silver City</a><a href="https://www.visitsilvercity.org/"> </a>to learn more. </p><div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>What You Will Do</b></H2> </div><div><p>Under limited supervision plan, organize, manage and evaluate designated engineering projects and programs, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.</p> <ul> <li>Review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned engineering projects.</li> <li>Manage projects and serve as subject matter expert (SME) on large/complex site planning/construction, expansion or modifications.</li> <li>Provide guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable processes, practices, and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations.</li> <li>Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated engineering areas.</li> <li>Develop and evaluate AFE’s (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requests.</li> <li>May evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.</li> <li>May represent the site on Company sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teams.</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li> <li>Works on complex issues and implements solutions mostly through the determination of strategy and delegation to others in a group or functional area.</li> <li>Often collaborates with managers and/or functional or site leaders and hassome interaction with external colleagues.</li> <li>Works under moderate supervision and has some latitude to set objectives, priorities and timelines that may impact department or individual work group</li> <li>Contributes to budget preparation by supplying costs and recommendations. Manages appropriate project budgets for consulting services.</li> <li>Manages a specific program or project, but typically does not supervise people</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>What You Bring To Freeport</b></H2> </div><div><ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and five (5) years related experience in engineering or related field, OR</li> <li>Master’s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and three (3) years related experience in engineering or related field.</li> <li>Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering</li> <li>Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions</li> <li>Skilled in managing large/complex engineering projects</li> <li>Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing</li> </ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Advanced degree with 3 years of mining experience or a bachelor’s degree and considerable experience in heavy civil/construction engineering and general multi-disciplinary project engineering</li> <li>Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE), or Professional Project Manager (PMP) Certification</li> <li>Experience with directing and mentoring complex engineering and project management work over junior engineers while ensuring quality products for end users</li> <li>Mechanical or Civil Engineering degree</li> <li>Experience designing complex piping and pumping systems</li> <li>Experience analyzing steel structures</li> <li>Experience in heavy civil earthworks and/or open pit mining</li> <li>Experience with managing large construction projects</li> <li>Experience managing project scope, schedules, and budget</li> <li>Experience with writing Project Justifications and Scopes of Work</li> </ul></div></div></div><p><strong>What We Offer You </strong></p> <p>The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently <strong>$105,000-$145,000</strong>. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
