The historic Chino mine was among the world's first low-grade, open-pit copper mines. Today, the operation consists of a 36,000-metric-ton-per-day concentrator that produces copper and a 150-million-pound-per-year solvent extraction/electrowinning plant that produces copper cathode from solution generated by run-of-mine leaching. </p> <p>The community of Silver City boasts various restaurants, arts, entertainment, cliff dwellings, festivals and much more. Visit <a href="https://www.visitsilvercity.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Silver City</a> to learn more. </p><div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Description</H2> </div><div><p style="margin-top:0.0px;margin-bottom:0.0px">Under close supervision, assists with routine small and medium-sized Engineering projects including layout and design, specification development and preparation, new product evaluation, and data collection to support operations or the Engineering unit at assigned site.</p> <p style="margin-top:0.0px;margin-bottom:0.0px"> </p> <ul> <li>Assembles data and assists with problem-solving requiring basic theories and Engineering fundamentals</li> <li>Utilizes computer programs to solve Engineering problems</li> <li>Assists with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized Engineering projects</li> <li>Assists with specification development or preparation</li> <li>Assists with technical evaluation of equipment and material</li> <li>Assists in maintaining accurate and current project documentation</li> <li>May perform as a member of a survey or GPS mapping crew</li> <li>Performs other duties as required</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Qualifications</H2> </div><div><p style="margin-top:0.0px;margin-bottom:0.0px"><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></p> <p style="margin-top:0.0px;margin-bottom:0.0px"> </p> <ul> <li>One (1) year of experience in an Engineering or Technical area relevant to the assignment</li> <li>Knowledge of specialized equipment, methods and techniques appropriate to assignment, including GIS/GPS mapping techniques</li> <li>Skill in safely using, maintaining and repairing specialized equipment to complete assigned projects</li> <li>Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing</li> <li>Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions</li> <li>Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p style="margin-top:0.0px;margin-bottom:0.0px"><strong>Preferred</strong></p> <p style="margin-top:0.0px;margin-bottom:0.0px"> </p> <ul type="disc"> <li>High School diploma or GED</li> <li>One (1) year of experience in the mining industry</li> <li>Experience with maintaining and repairing radars, GPS equipment, total stations, piezometers</li> <li>Aptitude for computers and/or electronics</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p style="margin-top:0.0px;margin-bottom:0.0px"><strong>Criteria/Conditions</strong></p> <p style="margin-top:0.0px;margin-bottom:0.0px"> </p> <ul> <li>Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English</li> <li>Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards</li> <li>Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment</li> <li>Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles</li> <li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms</li> <li>Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day</li> <li>May be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation</li> <li>Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required</li> <li>Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws</li> </ul></div></div></div><p><strong>What We Offer You</strong> </p> <p>The estimated pay range for this role is currently <strong>$20.50 - $28.00/hour.</strong> This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
