<p> </p> <p><u>Position Overview</u></p> <p>As a Commodity Buyer, you will play a critical role in sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of your assigned commodities while maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability and ensuring that supply base meets cost, quality, launch and delivery commitments</p> <p> </p> <p><u>Main Responsibilities</u></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Leads full sourcing process with activities as RFQ/RFI, technical reviews and obtain Council approval for new business awards.</li> <li>Works in cooperation with other Nexteer functions to make the best supplier selection for Nexteer.</li> <li>Conducts market research to identify potential suppliers and products that meet the organization's needs.</li> <li>Negotiates contracts for prices and terms with outside suppliers for new and carryover components.</li> <li>Develops and maintains commodity strategies in cooperation with other regions and in alignment with organizational needs and targets.</li> <li>Follows market price trends and general business activities.</li> <li>Manages supplier commercial issues.</li> <li>Ensures compliance to GSM Policies and Procedures.</li> <li>Establishes annual material budget and performs monthly budget analysis.</li> <li>Works with suppliers and Nexteer resources to identify, develop and implement material cost savings.</li> <li>Develop new suppliers/disruptors to properly support the needs of each product line</li> <li>Negotiate, implement and maintain up to date prices per material contracts with supply base in alignment with customer agreements.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><u>Job Requirements</u></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Have a 4yr University degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or any other relevant field</li> <li>3+ years of experience in the automotive industry in purchasing of direct material.</li> <li>Experience in commodity purchasing like Forgings, Driveline, Stampings, Rubber, Plastics</li> <li>Able to function independently with minimal supervision & technical guidance.</li> <li>Excellent negotiation skills.</li> <li>Excellent oral and written communication skills & interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.</li> <li>Good organization and documentation abilities.</li> <li>Working knowledge of MS office.</li> <li>Ability to read blueprints and understand basic engineering documents.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of the specific commodities, materials, and products being purchased.</li> <li>High analytical ability in complex situations with a strong knowledge of Purchasing strategies & skills</li> <li>Must be able to travel up to 15% </li> </ul>
