This position performs general service and repair for grounds equipment, snow removal equipment, university fleet, etc. The pay for this position is $18.10/hr.</p> <p><strong> </strong></p> <p><strong>Primary Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Perform general service and repair for grounds equipment, snow removal equipment, university fleet, etc.</li> <li>Perform repairs on equipment using hoists, jacks, jack stands, grinders, drills, welding equipment and other shop tools.</li> <li>Repair/replace component(s) and reassemble systems to tolerance specified.</li> <li>Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as needed.</li> <li>Respond quickly to mechanical breakdowns in the field.</li> <li>Perform daily maintenance.</li> <li>Report completion of service and repair work.</li> <li>Report replacement of inventory.</li> <li>Perform work outdoors and indoors.</li> <li>Other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>High School Diploma/GED.</li> <li>3 years related experience in small engine/automotive repair and maintenance required.</li> <li>Ability to repair grounds and related equipment and vehicles (fleet vehicles, mowers, tractors, snowblowers, etc.)</li> <li>Must have working knowledge and experiences with small engine repair and diagnostics.</li> <li>Must be able to troubleshoot/repair electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems of Greens Industry equipment.</li> <li>Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor and campus customers.</li> <li>Must have valid driver’s license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records Policy.</li> <li>Able to lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally.</li> <li>Required to work overtime for special events as directed by supervisor.</li> <li>Subject to 24-hour call back for emergencies.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Vocational/technical training in small engine repair or welding.</li> <li>Welding skills.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Benefits:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Free tuition through Purdue University Global.</li> <li>Fee remission for a traditional Purdue degree for yourself, your spouse, and your child(ren).</li> <li>Insurance starts on first day of employment.</li> <li>Generous Paid Time Off.</li> <li>Additional benefit information: <a href="https://www.purdue.edu/hr/benewell/">https://www.purdue.edu/hr/benewell/</a></li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Additional Information:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position.</strong></li> <li>A background check and a misconduct check will be required for employment in this position.</li> <li>A Motor Vehicle Records check is required for this position.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p style="text-align:center"> </p> <p style="text-align:center"><em>Purdue Fort Wayne is an EEO/EA employer.</em></p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>FLSA Status</b></H2> </div><div>Non-Exempt</div></div></div>
