<div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="margin:0.0px"><b>Job Summary</b></H2> </div><div><p>At the PNW Writing Centers, our trained peer writing consultants meet one-on-one with students, faculty, staff, and alumni to provide encouragement, analysis, and resources for their writing projects. With a designated space and student presence, it is necessary to ensure all students seeking help receive assistance in the PNW Writing Center. Further, it is necessary the center provide accurate information in-person and online, drawing emphasis to the campus presence the Writing Center maintains and further develops. Therefore, this position requires a student worker to be present, not to tutor, to facilitate the aforementioned responsibilities.</p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="margin:0.0px"><b>Duties</b></H2> </div><div><ul> <li>Welcomes and assists all students who enter the center</li> <li>Assists students by making an account, appointments, etc.</li> <li>Maintains the Writing Center space (i.e. wipe down tables, fill printer, change fliers on cork board, switch decorations, etc.)</li> <li>Be on-time and prepared</li> <li>Recommends resources to assist students if the Writing Center cannot provide them with the help they need (Tutoring Center, Career Center, Counseling Center, Dean of Students, etc.)</li> <li>Alongside other personnel, manage email inquiries, Sharepoint drive and Brightspace</li> <li>Complete individual and group projects that benefit the center (as determined in consultation with the Writing Center Director or Coordinator)</li> <li>Create and manage posts for the Writing Center social media accounts</li> <li>Other duties as assigned</li> </ul> <p>Hours will be determined based on the student’s preference, the center’s needs, and class schedule.</p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="margin:0.0px"><b>Education</b></H2> </div><div><ul> <li>Current PNW Federal Work-Study Student</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="margin:0.0px"><b>Experience</b></H2> </div><div><p>To be a PNW Writing Center Desk Assistant, a student must:</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Be a current student at PNW, graduate or undergraduate, in any discipline</li> <li>Have strong interpersonal skills (i.e. the ability to work well with students, faculty, and other tutors)</li> <li>Feel comfortable communicating in-person, on the phone, and via email</li> <li>Work well both independently and on a team</li> <li>Customer service experience preferred, but not required</li> <li>Administrative experience preferred, but not required</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="margin:0.0px"><b>FLSA Status</b></H2> </div><div>Non-Exempt</div></div></div>
