We are looking for a EHS Representative. The hours are 1500-2300. </strong></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-size:16.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000"><strong><u>PURPOSE AND FUNCTIONS</u></strong></span></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">With minimum supervision, the Health &amp; Safety (HS) Inspector should be able to provide Health and Safety guidance and support to the workforce. Ensures that the Company maintains compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.</span></span></span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-size:16.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000"><strong><u>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &amp; ABILITIES</u></strong></span></span></span></p> <ul> <li class="a" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Education and experience are both taken into consideration </span></span></span></li> <li class="a" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Typically has a High School diploma or GED; with typical 4years of directly related experience or AS Degree in related EHS field. </span></span></span></li> <li class="a" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Must have some working knowledge of Occupational Safety &amp; Health (OSHA) 1915 and 1910.</span></span></span></li> <li class="a" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">A minimum of three years of experience performing the duties of a Safety Inspector. </span></span></span></li> <li class="a" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">A minimum of three years of full-time experience directly related to safety enforcement and related duties comparable to a Safety Inspector in industrial or commercial plants and/or construction sites. </span></span></span></li> <li class="a" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Continuing education in approved Health and Safety related courses towards a Professional Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.</span></span></span></li> <li class="a" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Must have, or be able to complete and pass, courses including; 1) OSHA 3095, 2) OSHA 5410, and 3) Shipyard Competent Person.</span></span></span></li> <li class="a" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Must be able to handle stressful situations that arise. </span></span></span></li> </ul> <p class="a" style="text-align:justify"> </p> <p><span style="font-size:16.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000"><strong><u>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</u></strong></span></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Must be able to access all Navy installations and other shipyards. Must be able to enter confined spaces, work at heights and in confining or restricted spaces aboard vessels under construction/repair. Daily inspections require entering confined spaces, climbing ladders, working at heights, walking on scaffolding, observing use of tools and operation of equipment/machinery. Physical dexterity must allow for bending, reaching, climbing, crawling, and working on ladders and scaffolding. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of weight. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to vapors, gases, dust, welding/burning fumes, and smoke. Must be able to spend up to 90% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates. The noise level is usually moderate to extremely noisy 90% of the time, which may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammering</span></span></span></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000"><strong><u>VISION REQUIREMENTS:</u> </strong>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. A vision exam is required every ten (10) years to ensure:</span></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000"> Natural or corrected near-distance visual acuity in at least one eye able to read the J-1 letters on Standard Jaeger Test Chart, or equivalent, at a distance of not less than: 12 inches (30 cm) with one or both eyes, corrected or uncorrected. Color perception using the Ishihara Test or the Farnsworth D-15 Test. If a candidate does not pass the Red/Green Sensitive Ishihara Test, the candidate shall take the Farnsworth D-15 Test. If the individual does not pass the Farnsworth D-15 Test, the inspector must be evaluated by a licensed medical practitioner to provide the necessary data to determine the inspector’s color perception. Individuals certified after an evaluation by a licensed medical practitioner shall only be certified to perform inspection work that is within the inspector’s color perception capability. The examinations required by above shall be administered by, or under the cognizant of, a licensed medical practitioner and documented on the vision test record.</span></span></span></p> <p> </p> <p class="a" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:16.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000"><strong><u>WORKING RELATIONSHIPS</u></strong></span></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Reports to the EHS Manager and HS Supervisor. Maintains internal contacts with Production, Repair, Maintenance, Medical, and Emergency Response personnel. </span></span></span></p> <p> </p> <p class="MsoBodyTextIndent2" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:16.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000"><strong><u>RESPONSIBILITIES</u></strong></span></span></span></p> <ul> <li><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Conducts shipboard safety walk thru inspections for on and off site vessels as required daily.</span></span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Safety walks of the facility grounds to ensure compliance of environmental and safety hazards.</span></span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Inspects and maintains fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, and ear plug dispensing stations.</span></span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Maintains MSDS/SDS sheets for contract availabilities in progress.</span></span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Maintains lab analysis of paint and installation samples per assigned availabilities</span></span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Conduct breathing air surveillances.</span></span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Inspect scaffolding systems daily prior to commencement of work.</span></span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Conduct Grade D breathing air test.</span></span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Conduct Industrial lift Equipment spot checks for licenses and ODCL (Operator Daily Check List) completion. </span></span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Helps create and edit new work instructions, procedures or training materials and participates in training events (leading and attending).</span></span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Learn safety codes and standards, accident prevention principles, and their application to industrial operations; to learn techniques of making field inspections, conducting investigations, and identifying hazards; and other relevant skills. </span></span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size:14.0px"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="color:#000000">Conduct daily inspections of assigned areas ensuring that all operations (including those of Sub-Contractors) are in compliance with Federal, State and local regulations and NASSCO Health and Safety policies and procedures;
