The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.</span></p><p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Position Summary:</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">The successful candidate will be responsible for development of new products and processes requiring some knowledge of materials and plastics processing. Specific knowledge of fiber optic cable processes, polymeric materials and/or cable design understanding is preferred but not required. Candidate is expected to work well in a team environment to develop cable products/processes to solve customer problems while creating intellectual property. </span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Day to Day Responsibilities:</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Participate and/or lead regional or global project teams, developing new products and processes to solve customer problems, increase production capacity or cost reduce products. </span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Coordinate development activities with commercial and production groups from project initiation through product transfer.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Conduct research, propose experiments and analyze data to test hypotheses to enhance understanding of products and processes and to provide Corning with inventive solutions toward new development efforts.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Design and development of new equipment or modification and optimization of existing equipment needed for cable development designs.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Identify and investigate new processing techniques to develop innovative cable designs.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Balance hands-on work-related activities with technical leadership related activities.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Data collection, interpretation, communicating and documenting results in technical reports and presentations.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Collaborate with research and manufacturing functions throughout product development cycle.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Maintain strong technical interaction with development personnel in US, Mexico, Germany, and Poland.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Create new intellectual property for Corning.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Interface with suppliers and procurement to develop state of the art equipment and processes with both existing and new polymeric materials.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Work with suppliers to identify/develop materials needed in cable designs to solve customer application needs. </span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Risk assessments of cable designs, materials, equipment, and processes being used.
