Position Title: Fresh for You Market Volunteer Support Summary: This non-paid volunteer opportunity will work with the Eskenazi Health Food and Nutrition Department to support the daily operations of the Fresh for You Market and be a resource for patients, visitors, guests and staff. The Eskenazi Health Fresh for You Market is a grocery store/food pantry hybrid that serves as a self-sustaining model to address food insecurity. It is open to the public and proceeds from traditional sales directly benefit the Eskenazi Health Fresh for You Market voucher program, providing patients who screen as food insecure during clinical visits with vouchers to shop for free food at the Fresh for You Market. Cash, debit/credit cards, and SNAP/EBT are also accepted forms of payment. Duties & Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Commit to a minimum of one 3-hour shift per week, between 6a.m. and 5:30p.m., Monday - Friday and be willing to volunteer in at least one of the following roles. <ul> <li>Stocking, Cleaning, Product Facing, 6a.m. - 10a.m. Monday - Friday</li> <li>Greeter, Surveyor, Customer Assistance 9:30am - 5p.m., Monday - Friday</li> </ul> </li> <li>Follow all policies and procedures set forth by Eskenazi Health, Eskenazi Health Food & Nutrition Services and Eskenazi Health Volunteer Services.</li> <li>Perform related duties as assigned.</li> <li>Must comply with HIPAA standards, policies, and procedures for maintaining confidentiality of patient and medical information. </li> <li>Greeter: <ul> <li>Greet guests as they enter the market.</li> <li>Explain how the voucher program works, if they have one with them.</li> <li>Assist with finding items, provide surveys, show customers how to utilize tablets to look up additional resources such as the nearest pantry to where they live.</li> <li>Utilize translation devices/resources for interacting with non-English speaking guests. </li> </ul> </li> <li>Stocking: <ul> <li>Stock products on shelves.</li> <li>Rotate items based on date of expiration.</li> <li>Face products on shelves so it looks appealing and organized, cleaning shelves and underneath shelves. </li> </ul> </li> <li>Follow all policies and procedures set forth by Eskenazi Health, Eskenazi Health Food & Nutrition Services and Eskenazi Health Volunteer Services.</li> <li>Perform related duties as assigned.</li> <li>Must comply with HIPAA standards, policies and procedures of maintaining confidentiality of patient and medical information.</li> </ul> Volunteers are not permitted to: <ul> <li>Position or lift patients in/out of bed, chair or wheelchair.</li> <li>Transport patients confined to hospital beds.</li> <li>Communicate clinical information to patients, clients, visitors or family members.</li> <li>Document clinical information.</li> <li>Interpret/translate clinical information in another language.</li> </ul> Requirements: <ul> <li>Volunteer must be at least 18 years of age.</li> <li>Should be able to lift a gallon of milk or a 3lb bag of frozen meat. </li> <li>Be able to stand for periods of time, sit down breaks permitted.</li> <li>Successful completion of the volunteer application, interview, online volunteer orientation, and position specific departmental training.</li> <li>Volunteer applicants will be required to submit to a criminal background inquiry and Occupational Health Screening.</li> <li>Must have excellent customer service skills.</li> <li>Should have, at least, basic computer skills, with a willingness to learn how to operate various computer programs.</li> </ul> It is Eskenazi Health’s philosophy and policy to treat employees, volunteers and applicants fairly and without regard to sex, race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran’s status or physical or mental ability.
