style="color:#092332;font-size:18.0pt;line-height:26.0pt"></h2> <p> </p> <p><p>AVL is looking for a Powertrain Calibration Engineer to join a long-term resident engineering team working on-site with a major automotive OEM in Barcelona.</p> <p>This position offers exposure to the complete calibration and validation process, including combustion calibration, OBD diagnostics, emissions development, vehicle testing, data analysis and customer deliverables.</p> <p>The engineer will participate in all stages of the development process, from vehicle preparation and test execution to calibration definition, technical analysis, reporting and project follow-up.</p> <p>The role provides opportunities to work on both conventional gasoline powertrains and advanced hybrid architectures, within an international and highly technical environment.</p> <p>We are looking for engineers who enjoy taking ownership, solving problems and contributing actively to the success of the team and the project.</p> <p><em><strong>Location: </strong>Barcelona, Spain</em></p> </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p> <p> </p> <p><p>As a Powertrain Calibration Engineer, you will participate in the complete development and validation process of OBD, emissions and combustion-related functions.</p> <p>Your responsibilities will include:</p> <p>• Developing, validating and delivering calibration datasets for OBD diagnostic functions and emissions-related strategies.</p> <p>• Supporting combustion, drivability, fuel consumption and emissions calibration activities for gasoline and hybrid powertrains.</p> <p>• Defining, executing and analyzing vehicle, chassis dyno, engine dyno and emissions testing activities.</p> <p>• Supporting vehicle preparation, instrumentation, ECU flashing and workshop activities required for testing and development campaigns.</p> <p>• Analyzing test data, identifying root causes and proposing calibration or diagnostic improvements.</p> <p>• Supporting the development and validation of OBD monitoring strategies such as misfire detection, catalyst monitoring, sensor diagnostics, EVAP monitoring and emissions-related functions.</p> <p>• Preparing technical reports, calibration documentation, activity definition and monitoring and customer deliverables according to project milestones.</p> <p>• Following activities from initial definition through validation, issue resolution and final closure.</p> <p>• Supporting certification, compliance and emissions validation activities for different markets and regulations.</p> <p>• Collaborating with calibration, testing, software, hardware and project management teams to achieve project objectives.</p> <p>• Contributing proactively to technical discussions, troubleshooting activities and continuous improvement initiatives.</p> <p>• Taking ownership of assigned activities while maintaining a strong team-oriented mindset.</p></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>YOUR PROFILE:</strong></p> <p> </p> <p><div> <h3>Must-have</h3> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electronics, Industrial Engineering or similar.</li> <li>Experience in powertrain calibration, OBD, emissions, engine development or vehicle testing.</li> <li>Understanding of internal combustion engines, emissions formation and diagnostic strategies.</li> <li>Experience analyzing vehicle, engine or emissions test data.</li> <li>Familiarity with calibration and measurement tools (INCA, CANape, MDA, ODIS or similar).</li> <li>Fluent English (spoken and written).</li> <li>Valid driving license.</li> <li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.</li> <li>Willingness to work hands-on with vehicles and testing activities.</li> </ul> <div> <h3>Nice to have</h3> <ul> <li>Experience in OBD development and validation and emissions calibration.</li> <li>Experience with gasoline engines, hybrid powertrains or electrified systems.</li> <li>Knowledge of WLTP, RDE, PEMS or similar emissions testing procedures.</li> <li>Familiarity with development processes and tools (ASPICE, DOORS, Jira, etc.).</li> <li>Python skills for data analysis or automation.</li> <li>Experience working with OEMs or coordinating technical activities.</li> <li>German language skills (a plus).</li>
