<p>AVL Italia S.p.A. offers a job in Italy (IT) as</p> <h1 style="color:#092332;font-size:30.0pt;line-height:35.0pt"><strong>Senior Lead Engineer - Powertrain Simulation</strong></h1> <h2 style="color:#092332;font-size:18.0pt;line-height:26.0pt"></h2> <p> </p><p><p>The <strong>Senior Lead Engineer – Powertrain Simulation</strong> is responsible for leading simulation-driven development of high-performance powertrain systems, with a focus on advanced internal combustion engines and next-generation propulsion technologies.</p> </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p> <p> </p> <p><ul> <li>Lead 1D thermodynamic simulation across concept definition, pre-development, and full development phases.</li> <li>Develop, correlate, and validate engine models using experimental and test bench data.</li> <li>Define and assess engine concepts, supporting their transition to design and prototype stages.</li> <li>Analyze future regulations and evaluate their impact on powertrain architecture and performance.</li> <li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams (combustion, CFD, mechanical design, cranktrain, testing, fuels).</li> <li>Support integrated 1D–3D simulation workflows for combustion and air path development.</li> <li>Contribute to fuel modelling and knock prediction activities.</li> <li>Support valvetrain and cam profile development.</li> <li>Apply Design of Experiments (DoE) for system optimization.</li> <li>Perform vehicle-level studies (energy balance, lap time sensitivity).</li> <li>Provide technical guidance within the team and present results to senior stakeholders.</li> </ul> <p> </p></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>YOUR PROFILE:</strong></p> <p> </p> <p><ul> <li>Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.</li> <li>Extensive experience in 1D thermodynamic simulation and high-performance ICE development.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of engine thermodynamics, combustion, and gas exchange.</li> <li>Experience in high-performance or motorsport engineering environments.</li> <li>Proven project leadership and cross-functional coordination skills.</li> <li>Expertise in 1D thermodynamic simulation, including model correlation and validation.</li> <li>Strong capabilities in ICE performance development and optimization.</li> <li>Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE) methodologies.</li> <li>Familiarity with integrated 1D–3D simulation approaches.</li> <li>Proficiency in engineering tools and software such as GT-Power, AVL Boost, MATLAB/Simulink.</li> <li>Experience with system modeling and collaboration tools like Cameo and Concerto.</li> <li>English language skills (from good to advanced) </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p> </p></p> <p> </p> <p> </p><p><strong>Contact RecruiterTalent Acquisition: </strong>Mariele Lo Bianco<strong> </strong></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Interested?</strong><br>If so, please use our online application tool to send your application to AVL!</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>ABOUT AVL Italia S.p.A</strong></p> <p>AVL Italia<strong>,</strong> founded in 1980, provides the <strong>full portfolio of AVL technologies</strong> at the local level, offering customized solutions tailored to its customers.<br>With <strong>more than 40 years of experience </strong>and the support of a strong, highly qualified local team, AVL Italia is committed to making <strong>sustainable mobility </strong>a reality for everyone.
