The Role As Infrastructure & Systems Deputy Lead, you will support the delivery and evolution of a highly secure, network-driven platform responsible for processing and transmitting critical data within a Defence setting. Day-to-day, You’ll work closely with the Technical Lead to provide technical oversight across infrastructure, networking, and security, ensuring the platform remains secure, reliable, and performant in a live 24/7 environment. This role sits at the intersection of network engineering, cyber security, and systems integration, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working across disciplines and stepping into a broader technical leadership position. Your responsibilities will include: <ul> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Leading technical activities across network, infrastructure, and systems engineering teams</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Providing oversight to ensure secure and reliable data flow across networked systems</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Supporting the implementation of security controls, encryption, and secure data handling practices</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Driving improvements to system performance, resilience, and availability</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Producing and reviewing technical documentation and designs</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Engaging with stakeholders to resolve complex technical challenges</li> </ul> Essential experience of the Infrastructure & Systems Deputy Lead: <ul> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Strong background in network engineering (routing, firewalls, secure connectivity)</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Experience working within secure or high-assurance IT environments</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Knowledge of cyber security principles and secure system design</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Experience supporting high availability or mission-critical systems</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Background in infrastructure or systems integration</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Ability to work across teams and contribute to technical leadership</li> </ul> Essential qualifications for the Infrastructure & Systems Deputy Lead: <ul> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Exposure to encryption, cryptography, or secure data transfer principles</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Experience with scripting or automation (Python or PowerShell)</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Previous experience in Defence, government, or regulated environments</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Willingness and eligibility to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance</li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif">Professional certifications such as ITIL, Security+, Network+, or similar (or working towards)</li> </ul> We value difference and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.
