The Role As an Applied Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the development of innovative materials and technologies that enhance QinetiQ’s cutting-edge research and experimentation capabilities. Day-to-day, you’ll work in a hands-on laboratory environment delivering prototyping, manufacturing, and testing activities, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to produce, evaluate, and refine materials and structures across a range of applied science programmes. Your responsibilities will include: <ul type="disc"> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Preparation and manufacture of test samples using laboratory production equipment</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Conducting physical testing and evaluation of materials to assess performance and compliance</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Supporting programme delivery through collaboration with task leads and technical teams</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Maintaining laboratory equipment, stock levels and quality assurance of materials</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Producing technical outputs such as data plots for inclusion in reports</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Managing workload and ensuring safe laboratory practices including risk assessments</li> </ul> Essential experience of the Applied Science Technician: <ul type="disc"> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Basic computer literacy</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and consistency</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Ability to manage workload across multiple tasks and priorities</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Flexible approach to a wide range of laboratory and technical activities</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Ability to learn new skills quickly and work with minimal supervision</li> </ul> Essential qualifications for the Applied Science Technician: <ul type="disc"> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">GCSE level qualifications or equivalent</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in a scientific, engineering or technical discipline</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Evidence of continued professional development or willingness to undertake further training</li> </ul> We value difference and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.
