The Supervisor partners with departmental leaders, principal investigators (PIs), and administrators to ensure sponsored funds are managed with accuracy, compliance, and transparency, while also advancing the professional development of team members.</p> <p> </p> <p>Will consider highly qualified candidates to work remotely within the state of Texas. Will be required to attend work related meetings in Houston occasionally, travel for these meetings will be at the employee's expense. </p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Job Duties</H2> </div><div><ul> <li>Manages a personal portfolio of sponsored awards, providing full post-award financial support including grants master data maintenance in the accounting system, billing, reporting, and closeout.</li> <li>Supervises a team of research accountants, offering day-to-day guidance, workload balance, performance feedback, and professional development support.</li> <li>Reviews and approves team members’ work, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with institutional policies, federal regulations, and sponsor requirements.</li> <li>Acts as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex financial or compliance issues.</li> <li>Facilitates clear communication between central administration, departments, and faculty regarding grant-related policies, procedures, and best practices.</li> <li>Identifies opportunities for process improvements and contributes to policy and systems development.</li> <li>Serves as a role model by balancing independent portfolio management with effective leadership and collaboration across the team.</li> <li>Performs other job-related duties as assigned.</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Minimum Qualifications</H2> </div><div><ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.</li> <li>Four years of experience in research administration, sponsored programs or grants accounting.</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Preferred Qualifications and Skills</H2> </div><div><ul> <li>Prior people management experience including supervising, mentoring, or informally leading staff; team lead or supervisory experience. </li> <li>Strong working knowledge of Uniform Guidance, federal sponsor requirements, and institutional research policies.</li> <li>Proficiency with grant management and financial systems, as well as advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, etc.). </li> <li>Experience with financial models.</li> <li>Experience in a healthcare environment. </li> <li>Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.</li> <li>Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. </li> </ul></div></div></div><p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Work Authorization Requirement:</strong></p> <p><strong>This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.</strong> Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment. </p> <p> </p> <p>Baylor College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Equal Access Employer.</p>
