<p>We are seeking a highly motivated <strong>Deputy Project Manager</strong> to support the delivery of a major <strong>pumped storage hydropower project in Spain</strong>. The successful candidate will assist the Project Manager in overseeing all aspects of project execution, with a particular focus on civil engineering works, including tunnels, shafts, dams, underground caverns, and hydraulic structures. This project will be based in Ponferrada, near Leon and we offer certain flexibility location-wise.</p> <p> </p> <h2>Your accountabilities</h2> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing all phases of the project lifecycle.</li> <li>Lead and supervise civil engineering activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations.</li> <li>Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of civil works.</li> <li>Monitor construction progress, manage risks, and implement mitigation strategies.</li> <li>Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and schedules.</li> <li>Participate in stakeholder meetings and represent the project in technical discussions with authorities and partners.</li> <li>Ensure quality control and adherence to contractual obligations.</li> <li>Assist in budget management and cost tracking related to civil components.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <h2><br>Your profile</h2> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.</li> <li>Minimum 8 years of experience in large infrastructure or hydropower projects, preferably including pumped storage.</li> <li>Proven experience in managing or coordinating civil works on complex construction sites with Capex > 20 MEuros.</li> <li>Strong understanding of geotechnical, hydraulic, and structural engineering principles.</li> <li>Familiarity with Spanish construction regulations and permitting processes is an asset.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills in English; Spanish proficiency is a strong advantage.</li> <li>Strong organizational and leadership abilities.</li> <li>Experience with underground works (tunnels, caverns).</li> <li>Knowledge of FIDIC or similar contract frameworks.</li> <li>Ability to work in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.</li> <li>Proficiency in project management tools (Primavera, MS Project, etc.).</li> </ul>
