Markem-Imaje delivers fully integrated solutions that enable product quality and safety, regulatory and retailer compliance, better product recalls and improved manufacturing processes.</p><p> </p> <p><strong>The Role:</strong></p> <p style="text-align:justify">We are looking for a mechanical engineering leader to <strong>drive the standards, processes, and performance</strong> of our mechanical engineering discipline <strong>across our</strong> <strong>global R&D organization</strong>.</p> <p style="text-align:justify"> </p> <p style="text-align:justify">In this role, you will <strong>lead a</strong> <strong>distributed engineering community</strong>, influence product development across multiple sites, and ensure the delivery of high-performance, cost-effective, and reliable mechanical solutions. You will play a key role in <strong>shaping engineering methods, tools, and capabilities</strong> as part of a cross-disciplinary team of global engineering leaders.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>What you will do:</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Lead the Mechanical Engineering Discipline worldwide, <strong>collaborating with engineers globally</strong>, and <strong>ensuring alignment with business strategy</strong> and product roadmaps</li> <li>Define and deploy global standards, methodologies, training, and tools for mechanical design and development</li> <li>Act as a <strong>technical authority and advisor</strong> to engineering leadership and cross-functional teams</li> <li>Work closely with product development teams at all sites to <strong>support program execution, design reviews, and readiness for project gates</strong></li> <li><strong>Promote cross-team collaboration</strong>, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement</li> <li><strong>Collaborate with business leaders, other engineering disciplines,</strong> <strong>and all company functions</strong> to meet business needs throughout the entire product life cycle</li> <li><strong>Ensure</strong> <strong>successful delivery of quality mechanical engineering work packages </strong>across a portfolio of global projects</li> <li>Support <strong>global resource planning and capacity management</strong> for central and regional engineering teams</li> <li><strong>Identify risks, drive mitigation plans</strong>, <strong>lead problem solving</strong>, and escalate issues impacting delivery or quality</li> <li><strong>Develop and continuously improve</strong> a high-performing, collaborative global mechanical engineering community</li> <li><strong>Attract, <a name="_Int_z95mpttB"></a>develop, and retain the best talent</strong> to ensure the highest standard of excellence</li> <li>Lead hiring, performance management, and succession planning</li> <li><strong>Drive skills development, training programs, and career pathways</strong> across the discipline</li> <li>Ensure consistent application of <strong>engineering design processes from requirements through validation and production</strong></li> <li>Promote adoption of <strong>advanced tools, methods, and engineering practices</strong></li> <li>Lead continuous improvement initiatives to <strong>enhance quality, efficiency, and time-to-market</strong></li> <li><strong>Enable a Platform Strategy</strong> to drive reuse and efficiency in product development</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>What you need to have:</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in <strong>Mechanical Engineering</strong> or related field (Master’s or PhD preferred)</li> <li><strong>15+ years of experience</strong> in mechanical engineering R&D within global industrial environments</li> <li><strong>10+ years of direct and indirect leadership experience</strong> managing teams across multiple regions</li> <li>Strong experience in: <ul style="list-style-type:circle"> <li><strong>Full product lifecycle</strong></li> <li><strong>Leading global, cross-functional engineering teams</strong></li> <li><strong>Driving process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives</strong></li> </ul> </li> <li>Ability to <strong>travel internationally</strong> as needed up to 10-15% of the time.</li> <li><strong>Strategic mindset</strong> with strong <strong>technical credibility </strong>and <strong>excellent organizational skills</strong></li> <li>Proven ability to influence in a <strong>global matrix organization</strong></li> <li><strong>Strong communication</strong> and stakeholder management skills</li> <li>Leadership style that fosters <strong>collaboration, accountability, and performance</strong></li> <li><strong>Adaptability</strong> in a dynamic, fast-paced environment</li> <li>Experience in the use of CAE / FEA to evaluate complex assemblies, thermal effects, structural dynamics, and material characterization preferred</li> <li>Experience with <strong>Design for Value</strong> and <strong>Design for Sustainability</strong> preferred</li>
