About this role
The Biomanufacturing Lab Technician will support R&D and pilot‑scale bioprocess operations by preparing buffers and media, executing non‑GMP unit operations, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation. This role is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude, solution preparation experience, and familiarity with bioprocess workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Buffer & Media Preparation
Prepare small (<200 L) and large (200–500 L) batches of buffers and tissue culture media according to established SOPs.Perform solution calculations (molarity, molality, percentages) and determine component volumes based on algebraic equations.Bioprocess Unit Operations
Set up, operate, and evaluate non‑GMP processes including:BioreactorsCentrifugationFiltrationChromatographyUltrafiltration/Diafiltration (UF/DF)Final fill operationsEquipment & Facility Support
Execute CIP (Clean‑in‑Place) and SIP (Sterilize‑in‑Place) procedures.Perform aseptic sampling, parts washing, inventory management, and accurate recordkeeping.Generate work orders and enter/evaluate data in electronic systems.Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment. Preferred Experience
Buffer and media preparation at small and pilot‑scale volumes.Hands‑on experience with non‑GMP bioprocess unit operations.Familiarity with CIP/SIP, aseptic techniques, and equipment cleaning processes.Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with automated systems.Strong algebraic and solution preparation skills.Minimum Requirements
HS diploma + 2 years experience in a lab or manufacturing setting (bioprocess or chemical)
ORAS degree in a scientific field with relevant experienceAbility to work independently within a matrixed team environment.Commitment to safety and continuous improvement (LEAN, Six Sigma, 5S).Proficiency in Word and Excel.Authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction.Physical Requirements
Work primarily in an indoor laboratory environment, standing for >85% of the shift.Walk between buildings; use stairs.Bend, lift, and transport materials as needed.Move items up to 500 lbs using assisted lifting equipment (motorized carts, lifts).Handle raw materials and media powders (up to 90 lbs with assistance) and large liquid volumes (up to 20 L).Work safely with hazardous materials using proper PPE and GLP standards.
