About this role
<p><strong>Job Summary:</strong></p> <p>Involved in all aspects of mechanical design from concept, development, validation and detailed design requiring autonomy and hands-on activity. He/she is responsible for the quality and thoroughness of the drawings that are created with the expectation that the work order will be fulfilled.</p> <p><strong>Job Responsibilities: </strong></p> <p>1. Design with intent of cost savings, inventory reduction and respecting obligatory mandate.<br>2. Perform basic design & draft as support for intermediate/senior levels.<br>3. Build the technical requirements and scope for the project.<br>4. Define the engineering budget.<br>5. Complete work order on time, on budget and with the expected results.<br>6. Study the Engineering Schedule and follow the pre-determined schedule.<br>7. Lead the product validation and application qualification.<br>8. Respect drawings standards and standard regulatory criteria (FDA, CSA, ANSI, etc.) for all designs.<br>9. Use proper naming convention and archiving protocols when creating drawings.<br>10. Perform inspection of new parts.<br>11. Supporting assembly and fabrication team with application issues.<br>12. Generate Bill of Materials for Assemblies.<br>13. Follows global industry standards and company’s practices, rules and procedures.<br>14. Perform ECR’s demands.<br>15. Keep updated on innovations in the packaging industry.<br>16. Respects the company’s standards such as punching rules, policies, procedures<br>17. Support the service team during commissioning.<br>18. Interface with clients when required.<br>19. Travel if needed.<br>20. Build shop packets and lead the transfer from engineering to production.<br>21. The employee must be available and willing to work overtime when requested by the supervisor to meet operational and business requirements. 22. All other duties as assigned. </p> <p><strong>Job Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>A post-secondary diploma or degree in mechanical design, mechanical engineering, or equivalent is required.</li> <li>0-2 years of mechanical design experience is preferred.
