The Mechanical Testing Department for The Lubrizol Corporation supports the development and testing of current and future advanced mobility needs for the lubricant industry and beyond. A team member is responsible for the operation of a variety of tests in Mechanical Testing including, but not limited to, gasoline engines, heavy duty diesel engines, axles, and transmissions. In this role, you will: <ul style="list-style-type:disc" type="disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Mechanically inclined individuals with a passion for working on and testing engines, components, and related equipment.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Operate and perform daily work in a safe manner.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Control and troubleshoot problems related to the automotive and mechanical test laboratory equipment and test stands. </li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Perform mechanical and maintenance functions on test stands and associated equipment.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Communicate testing related issues to the appropriate engineer, facilitator, or support group.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Stay current on lab utilities that support your test area.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Maintain housekeeping in test cells/areas and common spaces.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Be an active participant in completing shift rounds.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Complete training needed to develop technical and interpersonal skills.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Cross train in other areas of Mechanical Testing for personal growth and support of future testing needs.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Support all Lubrizol and department initiatives around Safety, Environmental, ISO, ERT and career development.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Prioritize work for overall effectiveness of shift and to meet business needs.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Identify and communicate the need for emergency maintenance coverage.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Procure test parts and support equipment and ensure they are charged to the proper accounts.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Recommend new test support equipment as needed. </li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Always maintain high ethical standards.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Demonstrate good initiative, communication skills, and self-motivation.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Demonstrate the Lubrizol Purpose, Strategy, and Values in everyday work</li> </ul> Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success <ul style="list-style-type:disc" type="disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. </li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Experience through work or education performing automotive and/or mechanical equipment testing, including vocational training, hobbies, or military exposure.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Demonstrate mechanical acumen and familiarity with standard engine / driveline nomenclature.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to use hand tools and specialized measurement equipment such as torque wrenches and micrometers.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Good basic math skills.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Competence in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to document testing data and issues clearly.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to fulfill safety requirements.</li> </ul> <ul style="list-style-type:disc" type="disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Coordinate vacation to ensure the best coverage for Mechanical Testing.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Accepts the possibility of flexible work schedules.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to lift 5-50 lbs. and assisted moves of drums weighing 50-800 lbs.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to stand for long periods of time.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Work in an environment that is not climate controlled.
