<p><strong>Summary of Responsibilities:</strong></p> <p>The Scientist will support Lubrizol’s Chemical Design &amp; Synthesis group by conducting hands-on laboratory experimentation, primarily focused on the synthesis, characterization, and development of new molecules—especially hyperdispersant chemistries for Paints &amp; Coatings applications. This role will follow the guidance of the laboratory lead, contributing to innovative research and ensuring safe, efficient lab operations.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Essential Job Functions:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Conduct laboratory synthesis, characterization, and performance testing of organic and polymeric materials, under the direction of the laboratory lead and Technology Manager.</li> <li>Execute hands-on experiments, collect and analyze data, and maintain accurate laboratory records.</li> <li>Utilize technical knowledge and statistical tools to solve technical challenges as assigned.</li> <li>Compile, interpret, and communicate results to the laboratory lead, Technology Manager, colleagues, sponsors, and customers.</li> <li>Prepare technical reports and enter experimental results electronically upon completion of laboratory work.</li> <li>Maintain and ensure operational safety of laboratory equipment.</li> <li>Adhere to Lubrizol’s safety procedures and good housekeeping practices.</li> <li>Participate in continuous improvement and safety initiatives within the laboratory.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:</strong><strong> </strong></p> <ul> <li>B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field.</li> <li>2+ years of experience in laboratory synthesis of organic and/or polymeric compounds (industrial or academic).</li> <li>Familiarity with analytical instrumentation and methodology (ex. NMR, FTIR, GPC, etc.)</li> <li>Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.</li> <li>Strong communication skills in English; fluency in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese will be advantageous.</li> <li>Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.</li> <li>Commitment to laboratory safety and operational excellence.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>#LI-KS1</p>
