Your Role: As Medical Advisor Rare Disease Austria, you will serve as the scientific and medical backbone of our Medical Affairs activities in Austria. You will be a trusted partner to the medical community, patient advocacy groups, and internal cross-functional teams, translating cutting-edge science into meaningful impact for patients with rare tumors. You will define and execute the local medical strategy, drive evidence generation initiatives, build lasting relationships with key opinion leaders and patient organizations, and support clinical development activities — all while ensuring the highest standards of scientific integrity and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Medical Strategy & Scientific Expertise <ul> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Define and lead the local medical strategy for your therapeutic area, aligned with global and regional objectives.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Serve as the internal expert on disease biology, treatment landscape, and evolving standards of care in rare tumors and related rare diseases.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Anticipate and address the scientific and educational needs of local stakeholders including HCPs, payers, and patient communities.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Maintain and continuously develop an advanced, in-depth scientific and medical knowledge base; communicate key insights to internal and external stakeholders.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Ensure scientific and clinical accuracy for all assigned products and therapeutic areas.</li> </ul> KOL & Stakeholder Engagement <ul> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Identify, establish, and maintain strong scientific relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) across multi-specialty disciplines at local, national, and European levels.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Facilitate the appropriate, balanced exchange of scientific information and respond to unsolicited medical inquiries from the medical community.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Communicate expert opinions, clinical trends, and field insights to Medical Affairs and translate findings into strategic recommendations that advance science and patient care.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Develop and execute KOL engagement plans and territory plans in alignment with regional and national medical strategy.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Serve as medical lead and provide scientific support at national and international medical congresses; participate in and facilitate medical discussions at advisory boards and scientific programs.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Build and maintain relationships with clinical decision makers at local and national institutions.</li> </ul> Patient Advocacy & Disease Awareness <ul> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Act as primary liaison with local and national patient advocacy organizations (PAOs) and patient groups, gathering patient insights and supporting patient-centric approaches.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Plan and lead local patient organization engagement activities, including disease awareness initiatives and events at major congresses.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Collaborate with the European Patient Advocacy Director to align country-level PAO strategy and tactics.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Analyze the local patient advocacy landscape and represent the company externally at relevant meetings</li> </ul> Clinical Development & Evidence Generation <ul> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Support company-sponsored clinical trials across all phases, from site identification and initiation through to completion, including patient enrollment support and investigator engagement.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Act as primary liaison to investigators interested in developing and conducting investigator-initiated research (IIS); coordinate between investigators and internal stakeholders.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Drive real-world evidence (RWE) generation and lead/support local medical studies; contribute to site selection for clinical projects in collaboration with Clinical Operations.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Partner with cross-functional teams, including HEOR and Market Access, to develop health economic and outcomes data and present findings to relevant audiences.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Map the treatment landscape and medical environment for new indications and programs within the therapeutic area.</li> </ul> Cross-functional Collaboration & Compliance <ul> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Develop and review medical materials, publications, and communications, ensuring scientific accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards and local pharma codes.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Lead the local publication process and align with local, regional, and global publication plans.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Contribute to and review medical marketing strategies and materials.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Consolidate and communicate trends, market insights, and unmet medical needs identified in the field to internal stakeholders.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Support the planning and tracking of the therapeutic area-specific medical budget and ensure operational excellence.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Comply with all relevant trainings, SOPs, GxP guidelines, and internal policies; maintain up-to-date compliance knowledge.</li> </ul> Who You Are Required Qualifications <ul> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Advanced scientific or medical degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) required.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Minimum of 5 years of Medical Affairs experience in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Demonstrated expertise in rare diseases, particularly in oncology and/or neurosciences.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Proven ability to present complex clinical and scientific data effectively to diverse audiences.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Knowledge of regulatory, commercial, and clinical issues affecting the pharmaceutical industry.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Experience with clinical research methodology and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Solid understanding of local healthcare environment, including market access and payer dynamics.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Strong organizational, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with external stakeholders.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approx. 30–40%).</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Fluency in German & English</li> </ul> Preferred Qualifications <ul> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Prior field Medical Affairs experience (MSL or Medical Advisor role) within the relevant country.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Experience in patient advocacy engagement and communications strategies for disease awareness and patient access.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Background in rare oncology (e.g., desmoid tumors, DFSP, or related rare tumor types).</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Experience with G-BA assessments or comparable health technology assessment (HTA) processes.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Familiarity with health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) principles.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Strong team player with a collaborative mindset and practical GCP knowledge.</li> </ul> What we offer: We are curious minds that come from a broad range of backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences.
