Purpose of the Position</strong></p> <p>To lead and manage welding engineering activities ensuring compliance with applicable international standards (ISO 3834, PED, ASME) and to drive quality, productivity, and process optimization in welding operations across Flow India.</p> <p><strong>2. Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <p><strong>2.1 Welding Process Development & Control</strong></p> <p>Develop, qualify, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualifications (WPQ)</p> <p>Define welding parameters, joint designs, and welding sequences for critical components</p> <p>Optimize welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, Laser, Orbital, Robotic welding) for quality and efficiency</p> <p>Conduct welding trials for new products, materials, and thickness ranges</p> <p><strong>2.2 Compliance & Quality Assurance</strong></p> <p>Ensure compliance with ISO 3834, PED Module H, ASME Section IX, and relevant ISO/EN standards</p> <p>Conduct welding audits and process assessments</p> <p>Define and implement inspection and testing requirements including NDT (VT, PT, RT, UT)</p> <p>Monitor welding KPIs such as rejection rates, repair rates, and process capability</p> <p><strong>2.3 Welding Coordination (ISO 3834)</strong></p> <p>Act as Responsible Welding Coordinator as per ISO 3834 requirements</p> <p>Ensure proper documentation, traceability, and control of welding activities</p> <p>Review and approve welding documentation including WPS, weld maps, and repair procedures</p> <p>Support internal and external audits and certification processes</p> <p><strong>2.4 Production Support & Problem Solving</strong></p> <p>Provide technical support for production issues related to welding</p> <p>Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of welding defects and implement corrective actions</p> <p>Support automation initiatives including robotic welding systems</p> <p>Ensure effective utilization of welding consumables and cost control</p> <p><strong>2.5 Supplier Quality & Development</strong></p> <p>Evaluate and approve suppliers for welding capability and compliance</p> <p>Review supplier welding procedures and welder qualifications</p> <p>Drive supplier development initiatives for welding quality improvement</p> <p><strong>2.6 Training & Competency Development</strong></p> <p>Train welders, inspectors, and engineers on welding processes and quality requirements</p> <p>Ensure periodic qualification and certification of welding personnel</p> <p>Develop internal competencies aligned with ISO and PED requirements</p> <p><strong>2.7 Cross-functional Collaboration</strong></p> <p>Collaborate with Design, Quality, Production, Purchase, and Industrial Engineering teams<br>Support new product development with weldability assessment and cost optimization<br>Contribute to TPM, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives</p> <p><strong>3. Educational Qualifications</strong><br>Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Metallurgical Engineering<br>Preferred: Master’s Degree in Welding / Materials Engineering<br>Certification: International Welding Engineer (IWE) / IWT / IWS preferred</p> <p><strong>4. Experience</strong><br>Minimum 15 years of experience in welding engineering in manufacturing industry<br>Experience in pressure equipment, process industry, or similar environment preferred</p> <p><strong>5. Technical Competencies</strong><br>Strong knowledge of welding processes: GTAW, GMAW, Laser, Orbital, Robotic<br>Expertise in standards: ISO 3834, ISO 15614, ISO 9606, PED, ASME Section IX<br>Knowledge of metallurgy, weld defects, and inspection techniques<br>Understanding of welding automation and digital systems</p> <p><strong>6. Authority / Decision Making</strong></p> <p>Approval of welding procedures and qualifications</p> <p>Technical decisions related to welding processes and quality</p> <p>Recommendation of suppliers for welding capability</p> <p><strong>9. Interfaces</strong></p> <p>Internal: Production, Quality, Design, Purchase, Industrial Engineering</p> <p>External: Suppliers, Certification Bodies, Auditors</p> <p><strong>10. Additional Requirements</strong></p> <p>Knowledge of SAP and documentation systems preferred</p> <p>Willingness to travel for supplier development and audits• Supplier quality performance</p>
