Position Overview The Grade Foreperson is a frontline supervisory role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day completion of grading, excavation, utility, and site development projects. This position directs laborers and equipment operators, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications. Works closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to coordinate crews, equipment, materials, and schedules while maintaining a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence. Work Requirements <ul> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Lead crews in promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Plan, coordinate, supervise, and monitor daily construction activities.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Direct and train equipment operators, laborers, and other assigned personnel.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Read, interpret, and execute project plans, blueprints, grades, and specifications.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Ensure grading, excavation, compaction, and site preparation activities meet project requirements.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Coordinate with Project Managers and Superintendents to achieve production goals and project timelines.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Verify proper field layout, elevations, slopes, and grade tolerances.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Monitor quality, productivity, and workmanship throughout project execution.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Operate heavy equipment and perform labor duties as needed.Identify and communicate jobsite changes, delays, or potential cost impacts.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Ensure equipment is operated safely and maintained properly; report mechanical or safety issues promptly.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Maintain accurate daily reports, time records, equipment usage logs, and material tracking.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Promote teamwork, employee development, and accountability among crew members.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Perform other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> Education/Experience <ul> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">High school diploma or GED preferred.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Minimum of 5 years of construction, excavation, grading, or site development experience preferred.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Previous supervisory or crew leadership experience preferred.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Experience operating heavy construction equipment strongly preferred.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment used in grading and earthwork operations.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Be able to read plans and specifications.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Mathematical understanding in order to calculate grades, slopes, yields, etc.</li> </ul> Work Requirements <ul> <li style="color:black;font-size:10.0pt">Valid driver's license.</li> <li style="color:black;font-size:10.0pt">Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and travel to various job locations as required.</li> <li style="color:black;font-size:10.0pt">Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.</li> <li style="color:black;font-size:10.0pt">Must pass pre-employment drug screening, physical examination, and background check, where applicable.</li> <li style="color:black;font-size:10.0pt">Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.</li> <li style="color:black;font-size:10.0pt">Commitment to safety, attendance, and professionalism.</li> </ul> Knowledge/Skill Requirements <ul> <li style="color:black;font-size:10.0pt">Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and grade stakes.</li> <li style="color:black;font-size:10.0pt">Understanding of grading, excavation, compaction, drainage, and utility installation.</li> <li style="color:black;font-size:10.0pt">Strong leadership and communication skills.</li> <li style="color:black;font-size:10.0pt">Ability to calculate grades, slopes, elevations, yields, and quantities.</li> <li style="color:black;font-size:10.0pt">Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.</li> <li style="color:black;font-size:10.0pt">Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.</li> <li style="color:black;font-size:10.0pt">Ability to effectively manage crews, schedules, and resources.</li> </ul> Certificates, Licenses, Registrations <ul> <li style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black">Valid Driver’s License is preferred</li> </ul> The statements included in this job description are not intended to be all-inclusive.
