Job Responsibilities: The Occupational Health Nurse - Reporting to the Manager of Occupational Health Claims, plays a pivotal role in fostering a safe and effective workplace environment. Committed to adhering to the organizational legislation and the policies, they contribute significantly to maintaining a healthy and safe workplace for employees. In collaboration with HR and Business units, this role actively supports the health and well-being of employees and proactively managing and implementing occupational health services and programs. <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Provides primary care and assessments for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illness.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Implements care plans with follow-up nursing care and referrals.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Provides case management of short-term disability (STD), long term disability (LTD), and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Facilitates early and safe return to work and maintains effective incident injury/illness reporting procedures.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Facilitate in appeals process with WSIB.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Maintain and ensure compliance with all health & safety standards, education and required paperwork.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Conduct periodic training, including but not limited to first aid, CPR, health & wellness, and other related areas.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Interprets and promotes compliance with government legislation.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Providing on-site employee health nursing care, immunizations, and health counselling</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Participates in occupational health and safety maintenance.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Ability to travel with Ontario for meetings and plant visits.</li> </ul> Requirements: <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Current registration, in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario, BScN preferred.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Strong knowledge and understanding of WSIB process.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Knowledge and understanding of CNESST process.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">3 to 5 years of occupational health experience preferred.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Ability to handle work with sensitive issues and protect confidentiality of medical information.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Ability to deal with mental health claims/situation.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Sound judgement in the application of nursing and safety principles Knowledge of health and safety procedures, as well as occupational wellness programs.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Ability to do electronic charting and database entry using Parklane Systems</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Computer skills and the ability to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Current COHN certificate preferred 3 to 5 years of occupational health experience (Asset)</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Bilingual (French) an asset</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Experience in a unionized environment as an asset.</li> </ul> This job posting reflects an existing vacancy.
