Position Overview Provide inspection, testing services and documentation for our facilities and projects. May perform general skilled or unskilled construction related activities for gravel pits and field products. Wage: $16 to $21 per hour dependent on experience. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) <ul> <li class="xx"> Use accepted methods to inspect, sample and test aggregates, asphalt and other materials for the purposes of quality control both in a laboratory and field environment. </li> <li class="xx"> Sample and test mixtures to stay in compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerance. </li> <li class="xx"> Prepare and record accurate information; maintain test results database. </li> <li class="xx"> Follow quality control plans and guidelines as assigned. </li> <li class="xx"> Communicate with the production plants and field representatives regarding quality control and production. </li> <li class="xx"> Ensure safety work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tolls and equipment for the task. </li> <li class="xx"> Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safety working procedures. </li> <li class="xx"> Maintains knowledge of Colorado Procedures (CP’s) and American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). </li> <li class="xx"> Perform general cleaning of work areas. </li> <li class="xx"> Regular and timely attendance at assigned times is required. </li> <li class="xx"> Other duties as assigned. </li> </ul> Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. <ul> <li class="xx"> Knowledge relative to all field and lab procedures. </li> <li class="xx"> Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand and power tools, including but not limited to hand shovel, pick, construction bar, rake, broom, and other hand-held power tools. </li> <li class="xx"> Knowledge of safety rules for construction sites and the ability to abide by them. </li> <li class="xx"> Attention to detail. </li> <li class="xx"> Regular and on-time attendance required. </li> <li class="xx"> CAPA LABCAT </li> <li class="xx"> WAQTC </li> <li class="xx"> ACI </li> </ul> Education/Experience <ul> <li style="text-align:justify"> High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. </li> <li style="text-align:justify"> One (1) year construction or quality control experience preferred. </li> </ul> Work Requirements <ul> <li style="text-align:justify"> Must be 18 years in age or older. </li> <li style="text-align:justify"> Must posses and maintain a valid driver’s license. </li> <li style="text-align:justify"> Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check. </li> <li style="text-align:justify"> Must be willing to work irregular hours, nights, weekends, and swing shifts when needed due to contractual obligations. </li> <li style="text-align:justify"> Report to work dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time. </li> <li style="text-align:justify"> Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. </li> <li style="text-align:justify"> Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required. </li> </ul> Knowledge/Skill Requirements <ul> <li style="text-align:justify"> Must be able to perform basic mathematic calculations </li> <li style="text-align:justify"> Must have or acquire basic computer skills and be able to work with e-mail and spreadsheets. </li> <li style="text-align:justify"> Must have or acquire an understanding of quality control concepts and DOT regulations such as sampling frequencies, methods, quality requirements, etc. </li> <li style="text-align:justify"> Willingness and ability to work in and adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs and other conditions that may affect their daily responsibilities. </li> </ul> <ul> <li style="text-align:justify"> Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally. </li> <li style="text-align:justify"> Demonstrate a strong dedication to meeting the needs and expectations of our internal and external customers. </li> </ul> <ul> <li style="text-align:justify"> Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required. </li> </ul> Physical Requirements <ul> <li class="xx"> Requires full range of body motion including handling and operating various hand and power tools, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. </li> <li class="xx"> Requires standing and bending over for extended periods of time. </li> <li class="xx"> Requires reaching, crawling, climbing, grasping, kneeling, squatting, and twisting. Often requires lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling items weighing up to 90 pounds. Sometimes requires working at heights. </li> <li class="xx"> Requires correct vision and hearing within normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions. </li> <li class="xx"> This is a safety sensitive position. </li> </ul> Work Environment While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
