You will be responsible for conducting building inspections across your coverage area, to ensure compliance with all relevant legislative and safety requirements. You will have the opportunity to travel around the region, receive comprehensive training and support, and the autonomy to make necessary decisions so that our customers can experience a seamless process with us. You will be working with clients from various sectors of the development community, such as builders, homeowners, architects and developers, providing them with the proper guidance and advice on compliant building practices. We are looking for someone who has a deep knowledge of building compliance and is motivated by helping others understand and meet these requirements. You will need to apply strong technical knowledge, communication skills, and a customer-focused approach to everything you do. We will be looking for specific experience with: <ul style="list-style-type:disc" type="disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt;color:black">Relevant qualification(s) such as the National Diploma in Building Control Surveying, an equivalent professional qualification (IANZ accepted) or willing to work towards achieving the necessary qualifications.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt;color:black">Similar experience working with building codes, regulations, or in a comparable inspection role would be an advantage</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt;color:black">At least 5 years of cumulative experience in a building-related regulatory environment</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt;color:black">A comprehensive understanding of the Building Act, Building Code, and technical & structural integrity aspects of building design and construction standards</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt;color:black">Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a proven ability to interact with a range of stakeholders</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt;color:black">Strong customer service focus with a solution-oriented approach, while upholding high ethical standards during inspections and enforcement activities</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt;color:black">The ability to manage competing demands and resolve conflicts effectively</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt;color:black">A full, clean NZ Driver’s License is required to travel to different inspection sites</li> </ul> If you are ready to make a difference and work in a collaborative, supportive environment, apply now and be part of Auckland Council’s Field Surveying Inspections team!
