The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Department of Economics and Finance and contribute to research in FinTech and AI/ML in finance. This two-year fixed-term role will accelerate our capability in this emerging field and support AUT’s strategic growth in digital finance.

You will undertake high-quality research in collaboration with academic staff, contribute to joint projects, and produce high-quality publishable outputs. In addition to research, you will assist with teaching and curriculum development to help build capacity in this area.

Key responsibilities include:

Conducting research in FinTech and AI/ML applications in finance.

Collaborating on research projects and funding applications.

Publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and presenting at leading conferences.

Supporting teaching and curriculum development initiatives.

About you | Ko wai koe

You will hold a PhD in Finance, Data Science, or a closely related discipline (completed within the last five years) and demonstrate strong research capability and potential for high-quality publications. You will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and an enthusiasm for contributing to teaching development.

You’ll also bring:

A developing research profile with potential for international collaboration.

Experience in research methodologies relevant to FinTech and AI.

Strong organisational and time management skills.

Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive research culture.
