Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for an Interim Corporate Counsel.
Overview: Our client is seeking an Interim Corporate Counsel to serve as a key legal partner to its product, engineering, and business teams. This individual will play a central role in ensuring the company’s products, features, and communications comply with a wide range of regulatory requirements, including consumer protection, data privacy, and industry-specific laws.

Responsibilities Include:
Product & Regulatory Compliance
• Advise on legal implications of product features and enhancements.
• Ensure compliance with fee transparency, tenant screening, consumer protection, and fair housing laws. • Assess product compliance posture and mitigate regulatory risks. • Develop and maintain jurisdiction-specific compliance frameworks. • Partner with product/engineering via ongoing guidance and recurring syncs.
Compliance Operations & Outside Counsel
• Manage outside counsel and lead quarterly regulatory updates. • Serve as the primary contact for ad hoc compliance inquiries across the business.
Consumer Protection, Privacy & TCPA
• Ensure compliance with privacy, consumer protection, and TCPA requirements. • Advise on disclosures, consent language, and communication practices. • Support telephony compliance efforts (e.g., vendor coordination, campaign approvals).
AI & Emerging Technology
• Advise on AI-related product features and evolving regulatory frameworks.
Commercial Contracts
• Draft, review, and negotiate a range of agreements, including:
• API/integration agreements • Vendor and marketing contracts • Consultant agreements
Cross-Functional Advisory & Projects
• Provide practical legal guidance to product, engineering, marketing, and operations teams. • Support key initiatives, including identity/income verification (Plaid), data furnishing, and e-signature tools. • Address customer-driven legal questions impacting product functionality.
Qualifications Include:
• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership (Florida preferred). • Experience advising on consumer-facing products, including privacy, TCPA, FCRA, and related regulatory frameworks. • Strong commercial contracting and negotiation experience. • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide pragmatic, business-oriented advice. • Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
Individual compensation offered for this position within the pay range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
