Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for a Part-Time Employment Counsel to assist an International In-House Team.
Overview: An International Music Technology Company seeks a Part-Time Employment Counsel to assist with all general Legal Employment Matters.
Company: Music Technology Company
Experience: At least 6-10 years of experience with General Employment International Employment Matters.
Location: Remote EST
Responsibilities Include:
• Serve as a trusted advisor on day-to-day employment issues across the employee lifecycle • Counsel on hiring, terminations, performance management, accommodations, and workplace investigations • Partner with HR/People teams to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (with a strong emphasis on New York and California) • Provide strategic guidance on employee relations matters, helping to drive consistent, fair, and legally sound outcomes • Draft, review, and update employment-related policies, agreements, and handbooks • Support internal investigations and help mitigate litigation risk • Manage (and, where appropriate, run point on) external counsel on employment disputes, claims, and pre-litigation matters • Advise on emerging workplace regulations and proactively assess impact on the business
Qualifications Include:
• J.D. and active bar admission (NY strongly preferred) • ~6–10+ years of employment law experience (mix of law firm and in-house preferred) • Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment laws and regulations; global exposure is a big plus (especially UK and Germany) • Demonstrated ability to translate legal risk into practical, business-oriented advice • Comfortable operating autonomously in a part-time capacity while staying closely aligned with stakeholders • Excellent judgment, communication skills, and a low-ego, highly collaborative style • Experience in tech, media, or creative industries is a plus
