Opportunity Overview Children’s Minnesota is seeking a compassionate and skilled Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our Pediatric Emergency Medicine team. This position will primarily support the new Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment, and Healing (EMPATH) space within the St. Paul emergency department. EMPATH Program The EMPATH space provides specialized assessment, stabilization, and treatment services for children and adolescents experiencing mental health crises. The space offers a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach that helps improve access to timely behavioral health support while creating a more therapeutic environment for patients and families. Key Responsibilities · Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage pediatric patients presenting with a broad range of mental health concerns, illnesses, injuries, and traumatic conditions · Obtain patient histories, perform comprehensive physical examinations, and develop diagnostic and treatment plans · Order and interpret diagnostic tests, and clearly communicate results · Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions appropriate for pediatric patients · Collaborate with physicians, specialists, nurses, and interdisciplinary partners to coordinate evidence-based care · Promote patient safety, clinical excellence, and family-centered care Schedule Requirements · Position available at 0.8–1.0 FTE, based on candidate interest and program needs · Rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays About Our Emergency Departments The Children's Emergency departments, located in Minneapolis and St. Paul, are staffed 24 hours-a-day by board-eligible or board-certified pediatric emergency physicians and by nurses with specialized education in pediatric emergency medicine. Each facility is designed to support short-stay needs, coordinate pediatric and neonatal care transport, assault and abuse services, access to pediatric specialists, and emergency telephone consultation and referral. EDUCATION/ LICENSE / CERTIFICATION / EXPERIENCE: APRN Requirements: Current MN RN/APRN License. Nationally Board Certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with either the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice preferred Physician Assistant Requirements: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Physician Assistant Certification by the NCCPA Certification Board and MN Medical Board license required. Experience: Current/previous experience in inpatient pediatrics as a nurse, nurse practitioner, or PA preferred. Current BLS certification Current PALS required with 3 months of hire Physical Demands
