JOB TITLE Senior Legal Counsel | MAF Properties | Development
ROLE SUMMARY The Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible to lead and handle all legal aspects of Majid Al Futtaim Properties Egypt – Development Business. This includes providing sound and cost-effective legal advice, support and services to MAFP Egypt Development with respect to its current and future projects and business growth in Egypt.
ROLE PROFILE
• Provide comprehensive legal support to the VP, Legal – Development and key internal stakeholders, aligning with business objectives. • Assist in developing and implementing legal strategies, proactively identifying and mitigating legal and reputational risks. • Offer timely, practical legal advice on MAFP Egypt Development’s matters, ensuring protection of company interests and compliance with regulations. • Draft, review, and negotiate complex and standard contracts; maintain and update legal templates based on business needs and legislation changes. • Manage relationships with external law firms, supervising their work to ensure alignment with internal legal strategies and quality standards. • Review and enhance internal policies, processes, and governance frameworks to ensure compliance with laws, ethical standards, and corporate governance principles. • Advise on and support dispute resolution and litigation matters, focusing on preventive lawyering and risk mitigation. • Monitor and report on key legal developments in Egypt while ensuring adherence to MAF’s code of conduct and compliance policies.
REQUIREMENTS
• Law degree with at least 10 years of progressive legal experience in Egypt’s real estate or development sector; bilingual in Arabic and English, with LLM/MBA as an advantage. • Strong expertise in real estate and construction law, with deep understanding of relevant Egyptian and international legal frameworks. • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects, meet tight deadlines, and maintain high-quality, detail-oriented work. • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex legal and development topics clearly. • Advanced problem-solving, strategic thinking, risk assessment, and due diligence capabilities. • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information responsibly.
