About this role

Job Requirements Under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, the Patient Care Technician I (PRN) delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, performing phlebotomy, and collecting specimen samples. This position entails monitoring and accurately documenting patient conditions, collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support individualized care plans, and ensuring patient safety through fall prevention measures and strict adherence to safety protocols. Additional responsibilities include wound care management, urinary catheter care, blood glucose monitoring, orthopedic device maintenance, and timely response to patient alarms. The technician also facilitates patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, while maintaining a safe and organized clinical environment to promote efficient patient flow and optimal care delivery.

Work Experience A high school diploma or equivalent and current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) are required, along with current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. While prior experience is not mandatory, previous direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Candidates must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate effective teamwork, and have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in high-pressure environments. Proficiency in computer systems is essential. Additionally, candidates should be competent in obtaining accurate blood glucose measurements and performing delegated nursing tasks with sensitivity to the diverse needs of patients.
