Job Description Perinatal sonographer who performs obstetrical ultrasounds and assists with image guided procedures on the unborn fetuses of women diagnosed to have high risk pregnancies. Must demonstrate a firm knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to obstetrics and understanding of pathological conditions that lead to the diagnosis, management, and treatment of current or potential medical problems affecting the wellbeing of infant and mother. · Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients & their families while they are in the sonographer’s care · Assisting in the training and development of MFM Fellow & Resident ultrasound skills · Perform patient assessments including but not limited to first trimester screening, anatomy scans, growth scans and fetal echocardiogram · Acquire and analyze data obtained from prior to ultrasound results, patient history, and related diagnostic technologies. · Assist with Maternal Fetal Medicine Interventional procedures such as Amniocentesis, CVS, and others as assigned · Provide a summary of findings to the physician to aid in patient diagnosis and management · Performs other related department duties/ projects as assigned. · Must be willing to rotate through all Maternal Fetal Medicine offices including but not limited to West Hartford, Hartford, Glastonbury, Norwich, Meriden, and New Britain

Qualifications

· Associate's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography · Minimum of 2 years' experience in clinical OB scanning · RDMS OB/GYN Registration, Fetal Echocardiography Certification · Demonstrates diagnostic technical skill competency to meet AIUM imaging guidelines of: First Trimester ultrasound, Level II – anatomy (including 4 chamber heart and outflow tracks), targeted, or growth scan, fluid checks, multiple gestations, fetal echocardiography. · Able to assist with amniocentesis, Chorionic Villi Sampling, scanning inpatients. · Adheres to the AIUM ALARA guidelines for obstetrical imaging · Must obtain additional certifications as the Program calls for, i.e., Fetal Echocardiography within 3 years of eligibility, HLD CEU.
