36.25 Hours per week. Various shifts Monday - Sunday. Hours of work 6am-2pm, 10am-6pm. Shifts vary when on 10hr rotation.
Purpose of the post:
Support the water microbiology department.
Preparation of media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysisSample preparation in line with company protocolsMicrobiological analysis of water samples in line with company protocolsTraining and operation of relevant equipmentGeneral housekeeping of laboratory and prevention of cross contaminationAccurate Data entry into laboratory databaseAccurate record-keeping associated with UKAS quality systemEffective communication with all employeesReport any anomalous results or situations to Laboratory SupervisorHealth and Safety procedures are adhered to within the laboratory A level in a science related subject (preferably Biology) GCSE English and Mathematics and Science or equivalentComputer literate with experience of MS Office applications (in particular Excel)Comfortable working in a busy environmentExcellent organisational skills with the ability to work quickly and accuratelyAbility to work on own initiative as well as part of a team Benefits
