The Opportunity
Visa is seeking a Senior Director, Engineering for the Visa Commercial Payment Platform organization—a role central to the evolution of Visa’s global B2B payments ecosystem based in Bangalore, India. This leader will oversee several engineering teams responsible for delivering high-performing, scalable, and secure applications on Visa’s private cloud platforms. You will lead full-stack developers, architects, technical leads, engineering managers, and directors—while steering large-scale initiatives that directly influence Visa’s commercial platform delivery, customer experience, and revenue growth.
This is a transformational role requiring deep technical expertise, architectural excellence, operational rigor, and a strong ability to influence cross‑functional partners across the enterprise.

Platform and Technology Leadership
You will oversee the engineering strategy and execution for a sophisticated, large-scale platform composed of:

Technical Leadership & Architecture
Lead and scale multiple engineering teams responsible for core Commercial Card platform services.Set technical direction, architecture strategy, and operational standards across applications.Drive technical reviews, architectural discussions, and long-term platform modernization initiatives.Define reusable frameworks, shared components, and cloud-native architectural patterns.Champion enterprise-wide adoption of secure SDKs, API standards, and reliability best practices.Engineering Excellence & Product Delivery
Oversee end-to-end delivery from planning through deployment across multiple teams.Elevate engineering productivity through automated pipelines, DevOps modernizations, and GenAI-driven development accelerators.Promote a rigorous, secure SDLC grounded in quality automation, observability, and continuous improvement.Partnership & Influence

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 18+ years of experience, OR advanced degree with 15+ years, OR PhD with 12+ years of relevant industry experience.
Professional Experience
Extensive hands-on experience building and scaling mission-critical distributed systems.Strong background in payments, specifically commercial card platforms and payment integrations.Track record of delivering complex engineering programs across multiple teams and functions.Mastery of agile methodologies, modern development practices, and scaled execution frameworks.Technical Skills
Deep expertise in cloud and hybrid-cloud strategies.Experience integrating generative AI tools (OpenAI APIs, GitHub Copilot, etc.) to improve engineering efficiency.Ability to drive next-generation Commercial Payment Services leveraging modern distributed architectures.Strong foundation in microservices, REST APIs, messaging systems (Kafka, IBM MQ), and modern data stores.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to think deeply across systems.Leadership & Communication
Demonstrated success leading engineering organizations through growth, modernization, and scale.Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to executives, architects, business leaders, and regional teams.Confident in presenting program status, architecture decisions, and strategic direction to senior leadership.Preferred Qualifications
