About this role

Applications are invited for a full-time Post Doctoral Research Associate to join the BioElectronic Systems Technology Group, led by Professor Roisin Owens, in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology. The group core focus is developing advanced bioelectronic models to investigate the gut-brain axis. The successful candidate will play a central role in developing and interrogating advanced models of the gut, with a particular emphasis on the interplay between the gut, the enteric nervous system (ENS), and the immune system. This will involve developing and validating in vitro models that integrate human organoid-derived epithelium, immune cells, and ENS components, and ex vivo models. The role will require the application and optimisation of electrical, optical, and metabolomic assays to investigate functional pathways relevant to the microbiome and the gut-brain axis.
