We have an excellent full time opportunity atCygnet Hospital Bury Forestwood. The hospital offers CAMHS Tier 4 PICU, General Acute and Low Secure services across four wards which provide a defined treatment pathway from admission through to intervention and discharge including rapid assessment and treatment.
The vacancy is based on Buttercup Ward, our CAMHS PICU for young people aged 12-18 with severe mental illness.
The service focuses on working with young people to understand their mental health and their risks and support their recovery, enabling them to be successfully discharged to a less restrictive environment. Thus reducing the possibility of relapse and likelihood of requiring a secure service in the future. The service is able to provide robust care and support for young people displaying significant levels of challenging behaviour.
In this role, your expertise will be the driving force for life-changing treatment fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and first-class multidisciplinary team.
And you'll have the opportunity to progress to Medical Director level through our management schemes.

Your role responsibilities
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT)Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the MDTAssess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service usersUndertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis & treatmentParticipate in ward rounds & clinical auditsLead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management & embed clinical governanceSupervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals & managers hearings & attend hearingsParticipate in a second on call rota participation, currently 1:13

We are looking for someone who is...
Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualifiedRegistered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC StatusExperienced & knowledgeable in adult psychiatry & mental health diagnosisKnowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of CapacityA first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notesCommitted to continued professional developmentAble to work as part of a multi-disciplinary teamA member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent
Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
