About this role
The Scientist Antibody Discovery/Protein Engineering will support the Eurofins Discovery Biotherapeutics business in contract research services. This role requires experience and proven knowledge in construct design, antibody formatting and data mining methods with related experience in a contract research organization (CRO) or industry laboratory.
Scientist – Antibody Discovery/Protein Engineering responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Performs work in a laboratory setting, meeting the physical job requirements of a lab roleConducts production assays primarily in Biotherapeutics Discovery, but may support other Services and activities based on business needsContributes to biologics discovery programsDevelops and performs assays for Biotherapeutics discovery applicationsWrites and maintains SOPs as requiredDevelops new methods supporting project teams both internally and externally for large molecule discovery, characterization, and optimizationPerforms Troubleshooting and Maintenance of equipment employed in the screening process (e.g. liquid handlers, stackers, plate washers, readers) Prepares and manages inventory of buffers, reagents, semi-finished and finished goods.Provides solutions to complex problems, identifies and initiates process improvementsMaintains high data quality and reproducibilityPerforms data and report QC review within the department, and may support study director activitiesTakes ownership of client projects with minimal supervisionSupports validation of new methods, and contributes to expansion of service/product line, equipment, and data management systemsCompletes required training and supports 100% of Employee Health and Safety requirementsDemonstrates proficiency with care and maintenance of lab equipment and department assetsConducts responsible use of confidential IT and business systems, as requiredAdheres to department SOPs and documentation requirements, maintains accurate data management and reportingSupports unit goals and demonstrates Eurofins’ competencies, as defined in the job planProvides training to colleagues and external end users, when requiredContributes to scientific community, and site research and development objectivesWorks effectively in a team environment, under minimum direction, to achieve business production, project timelines, and quality objectivesAdjusts work hours and provides cross-functional support to other departments, as required, and maintains accountability in delivering to client needs/timelinesRoutinely communicates project updates to internal and external clientsPerforms other duties, as assigned Basic Minimum Educational Requirements:
B.S. with 5 years relevant experienceM.S. with 3 years relevant experiencePh.D. with 0 years post-doctoral experienceBasic Minimum Qualifications:
Direct experience with construct design (antibody and non-antibody proteins), preferably in a contract research organization or industry laboratory, for large molecule discovery applicationsDirect experience with antibody discovery methodologyFamiliarity with concepts of extracting data from the literature and FTODemonstrated proficiency in contributing independently on a project team with time and quality deliverablesGood communication and interpersonal skillsExperience working in a Quality Management SystemScientific expertise with antibody discovery methodologyScientific expertise with different types of protein design, optimization and productionScientific expertise in protein production, purification and QC of proteins (antibody and non-antibody)Scientific expertise with construct design for cell line developmentFamiliarity with mining public or non-public resources of antibody analysis (immunogenicity, stability, solubility etc.) for antibody engineering and designBackground knowledge of sequence-structure-function correlationExperience in leading and delivering results in R&D or innovation programsAuthorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
