About this role

We are seeking an ambitious, hard-working and creative Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Cader Lab at the Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery, University of Oxford. The successful candidate will contribute to an exciting, interdisciplinary programme developing next-generation human in vitro models of pain. The project aims to recreate the complex multicellular interactions that underlie chronic pain conditions such as neuropathic and osteoarthritis pain, using human iPSC-derived sensory neurons, vascular and immune components to produce an organoid systems.

The postholder will play a central role in developing and validating these advanced human model systems, applying molecular, imaging and electrophysiological methods to characterise disease-relevant phenotypes and drug responses. The role will involve close collaboration with academic, clinical, and industry partners, ensuring that the research delivers both mechanistic insight and translational impact. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated researcher with a background in stem cell biology, neuroscience, or pain biology to contribute to a high-impact, collaborative programme at the interface of cell biology, neurophysiology, and bioengineering. The position offers strong potential for scientific independence and career development, with opportunities to co-supervise students, present at international meetings, and contribute to publications and grant applications. Please click the 'Apply' button above to see the 'Job Description' for further details on the role, responsibilities, and selection criteria, as well as further information about the university and how to apply.
