Education & Qualifications
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (usually grade 4/C or above)A relevant qualification (desirable but not always required), such as:Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualificationCACHE or NVQ in Supporting Teaching & LearningSafeguarding training (often provided by the school)Experience
Experience working with children aged 5-7 (Key Stage 1)Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) such as:Autism (ASD)ADHDSpeech and language difficultiesExperience in a school is highly valuedMain Duties
Support pupils 1:1 or in small groups with learning activitiesHelp children with reading, writing, phonics, and mathsAdapt lessons to meet individual needsSupport children with behaviour, emotions, and social skillsUse positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniquesAssist during playtime, lunchtime, and transitionsWork closely with the class teacher and SENCOMonitor and record pupil progress and behaviourCreate a safe, inclusive environment for all pupilsKey Responsibilities
Provide individualised support so pupils can access learningHelp pupils develop confidence and independenceSupport children with communication difficulties or complex needsFollow safeguarding and school policies at all timesSkills & Qualities
