The appointee will also have the opportunity in the future to take part in leading on key disease areas (monitoring trends in treatment, staff training and prescribing) and assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for a diverse, patient list.

We are a well-regarded, high-performing training practice, serving a diverse patient population of approximately 19,000 patients across North Leeds, from Harehills to Shadwell. Our vision is to provide quality patient-centred care.
Our practice has a strong reputation for medical education, supporting GP registrars, medical students, and nursing trainees in a collaborative and structured environment. Our two purpose-built, modern premises are located in Harehills and Moortown. All clinicians work across both sites, promoting collaboration and shared expertise. The team includes:

Reporting to: Senior GP Partner
Hours of work: Full time / Part time
Contract type:Fixed term Maternity Cover
Role summary: The post-holder will provide general medical services managing a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients
Location: You would be expected to work across both sites in Harehills and Moortown
Annual leave: Six weeks annual leave plus public/ bank holidays (pro rata)
Study leave: One week per annum, included in annual leave allowance.
Salary: Negotiable and in line with tier progression model, depending on qualifications and experience
Main purpose of the role:
To support the Partners to manage a varied and interesting clinical caseload. The appointee will also have the opportunity in the future to take part in leading on key disease areas (monitoring trends in treatment, staff training and prescribing) and assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for a diverse, patient list.
Clinical responsibilities:
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations and emergencies, telephone consultations and queries, triaging, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, patient test results, referral letters NHS/private, paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner;
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation; Recording clear and contemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards; Collecting data for audit purposes; Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible); Prescribing in accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines. In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. Other responsibilities with the Practice:
Supporting teaching and training of doctors and nurses; Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, annual QOF Assessment of the Practice. A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice; Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation; Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records; Attending training, Practice Meetings and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate. Meet all tight timescales/deadlines for audits and written returns to ensure that the Practice meets quality standards and receives the designated funding (e.g. Quarterly Enhanced Services returns, annual QOF audit etc.) Confidentiality

The post-holder will:

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Recent experience of working in general practice in the UK. Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary and skill mixed team environment. Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF).
Desirable
Evidence of independent working in General Practice. Experience of supporting service change Teaching of GP Reg/F2/Medical students/Nursing students. Accredited GP Registrar trainer or F2 Supervisor. Evidence of participation in QOF. Evidence of participation in Audit.
Knowledge Essential
Knowledge of NHS. Have an understanding of the needs of the vulnerable groups of patients that are registered.
Desirable
Understanding/knowledge of: Quality & Outcomes Framework (QOF). Demand management. Read codes
Qualifications Essential
A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003. Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983. Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT). Currently on a PCSE performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register. DBS clearance. Have had an annual NHS appraisal.
Desirable
Evidence of further postgraduate educational activities in relevant fields. MRCGP. DRCOG. F2 supervisor training/teaching diploma. DFSRFH & Competence in Coil insertion. Evidence of CPD activities. Minor surgery skills.
