About this role

Job summary

The Biochemistry section of the Blood Sciences Department at Dorset County Hospital is looking for an experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our Bank to support the department.

The hospital is located in the county town of Dorchester which is eight miles from the Jurassic coastline and award winning beaches.

The ideal candidate will be a Biomedical Scientist with a specialist qualification in Biochemistry. The successful candidate will have strong experience with the use of Roche Cobas 8000, Winpath LIMS and Tosoh G11 equipment.

The department has IBMS training approval, UKAS ISO15189:2022 accreditation.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will have specialist experience in Biochemistry. The successful candidate will have strong experience with the use of Roche Cobas 8000, Winpath LIMS and Tosoh G11 equipment.The department provides a wide range of investigations to Hospital clinicians, Community Services and General Practitioners. The laboratories are approved for HCPC/IBMS training and are accredited to ISO15189:2022.

Right to work in the UK:This role is not available for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application. Unfortunately, we are unable to support visa applications for this post in line with UKVI regulations.

Education, Qualifications & Training Essential

oCompletion of Specialist Portfolio in Biochemistry oHCPC Registration oEvidence of continuing professional development

Knowledge & Experience Essential

oPractical analytical skills associated with Biochemistry oExperience working as part of a team as well as independently oAn understanding of analytical/diagnostic pathology at a specialist level

Skills & Competencies Essential

oAn understanding of analytical/diagnostic pathology at a specialist level oCompetent in the use of Roche Cobas 8000 equipment oCompetent in using Winpath pathology computer systems oCompetent in the use of Tosoh G11 equipment oGood organisational and communication skills oCompetence in the assessment of QA data and in the application of QC results to routine setting. oBe able to speak English as necessary to undertake role oExperience of working in a UKAS Biochemistry accredited laboratory
