Job summary
The Clinical Fellow will work as part of the wider ophthalmology team supported by 5 full time consultants, 3 visiting consultants and 1 consultant who works annualised hours.
The department is fully supported with orthoptist, optometric and paediatric ophthalmic nursing staff as well as a clinical electrophysiologist for one and a half days per week. Theatres are staffed by experienced ophthalmic theatre nurses
Emergency care is provided initially by the A&E department with primary care clinics running through the week for ongoing management of emergency problems.
The emphasis is on quality of care, a team approach to problem solving ans service development and there is an active audit programme.

Main duties of the job are to provide clinical care through outpatient clinics and surgical intervention. To be aware of the principles of clinical governance and to contribute to the aims of the Trust in achieving continuing improvement in all aspects of delivery of the service.

The job is for 40 hours (8 clinical sessions and 2 sessions for administration and research) Adjustments to work plans can be made according to individual requirements in agreement with the consultant body and clinical director.
