Job summary
This is a substantive six-month fellowship post, extendable to 12 months subject to satisfactory internal review, open to all post-fellowship anaesthetic specialist registrars who wish to develop a further interest in critical care medicine in a specialist cancer hospital. The trainee would expect to deliver resident on call 24 to 48 hour shifts on our Sutton site with further day time sessions at the Fulham Road site Critical Care Unit or anaesthesia sessions based on the requirements of the successful candidate. The resident on call commitment covers the three bedded Critical Care Unit on our Sutton site, as well as providing leadership and support to the Critical Care Outreach Service. The weekend on call commitment is 1 in 6 weekends. Weekday on call is on average one night per week with the commensurate time off post on call.

Qualifications Essential
Full registration and licence to practice with the GMC MB BS/MB BCh or approved overseas equivalent Advanced Life Support EPALS / APLS

BSc/BA Hons, Distinctions, Prizes at Undergrad or Postgrad Level FRCA or equivalent
Experience Essential
Minimum 12 years medical experience since primary qualification Minimum of 6 years at SAS Doctor grade or equivalent in anaesthesia/intensive care medicine Paediatric experience Experience of working in the NHS
Skills Essential
Clinical ability to deliver a safe anaesthetic service including paediatrics Knowledge of intensive care medicine Knowledge of postoperative pain management Competent in pre-operative, post-operative care and ongoing management of patients Ability to intubate, insert peripheral lines, arterial lines, central lines, epidurals and spinals independently
Leadership & Teamwork Essential
