This is an exciting opportunity to work for a well established Primary Care Network in an enhanced administrative role with some basic clinical elements.
Main duties of the job
The role may be flexed to suit the practice requirements, but the post holder will support the smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine reception, administration and basic clinical tasks on behalf of the GP, freeing up their time to focus on the patient.

We work together with a range of local providers, including acute trusts, community services, social care, voluntary sector and patient participation groups, to offer more personalised, co-ordinated health and social care to our local population.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Administration & Workflow Support
Receive, sort, and prioritise all incoming clinical correspondence, ensuring appropriate action by the GP. Signpost relevant clinical post to appropriate team members (e.g. clinical pharmacists, nursing team). Accurately extract key clinical information from hospital letters, test results, and reports, and code appropriately within the patient electronic record. Support the GP by coordinating followup actions arising from clinical correspondence. Appointment, Referral & Follow Up Coordination
Arrange patient appointments, referrals, investigations, and follow up reviews as instructed by the GP. Coordinate home visits and liaise with internal teams to ensure continuity of care. Assist in the management of patient recalls, including QOF and IIF reviews. Clinical Support Duties
Prepare patients prior to GP consultations, including gathering brief clinical histories and performing basic observations. Undertake clinical tasks as required and within competence, including: Blood pressure measurements Urinalysis (dip testing) Blood glucose monitoring ECG recordings Phlebotomy Assist the GP during minor procedures, including wound care and immunisations. Explain treatment procedures to patients when requested by the GP, ensuring patient understanding and reassurance. Patient Liaison & External Coordination
Act as a key point of contact for patients, managing telephone, facetoface, and electronic enquiries in a professional and compassionate manner. Support the GP by liaising with external agencies, including: Hospital teams Community services Oncall doctors and urgent care providers Facilitate timely clinical advice or admissions, allowing the GP to continue consultations efficiently. Reception & Administrative Support
Assist with patient registrations, temporary resident administration, and record updates. Provide administrative and reception cover as required to maintain service continuity. Maintain the security, confidentiality, and tidiness of the reception and clinical areas. General Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support safe, efficient patient care. Adhere to confidentiality, data protection, infection control, and governance requirements. Undertake adhoc duties consistent with the role to support the smooth running of the practice. Maintain flexibility in working practices to meet the evolving needs of the practice and its patients.

Qualifications Essential
GCSE or NVQ or equivalent
Desirable
Either hold or be willing to undertake a GP Assistant Skills or Care Certificate qualification
Experience Essential
Experience of working in a primary care environment
Desirable
Experience of working in General Practice using EMIS clinical system Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team Awareness of issues within the wider health arena

Flexibility to work outside core hours Punctual and committed to supporting the team effort
