Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Inpatient Mental Health Service adults division for a band 5 Occupational Therapists within Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust - Dudley locality, however Pan Trust working may be required if service needs arise.
Main duties of the job
They will implement evidence based/client centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist interventions in addition to participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy Services.
Participate in therapy hub group program utilizing a range of psychoeducational interventions, such as anxiety management, distress tolerance and recovery focused groups that will feed into recovery focused care planning.
The successful applicant will need to be an enthusiastic and committed individual who will be part of a wider team, including other Occupational Therapists, Allied Health Professionals and members of an Multi-Disciplinary Team within an- Inpatients Therapy Hub.
The candidate will need to be flexible in service provision/cross site cover on different wards when required and support the team pan trust.
The post holder will have responsibility for a caseload of clients including those with complex needs and will need to provide Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment interventions to adults within a hospital setting.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate robust OT clinical skills and knowledge of working mental health settings.

Job description Job responsibilities
The post holder will work as a member of a Multi-disciplinary team within the Inpatient Therapeutic Hub, the assigned ward and as a member of the AHP professional team.
You will receive support from Senior OT staff to fulfil a predominantly clinical role involving regular daily contact with patients and carers.
The post holder will be the dedicated OT to a specific ward for assessment and liaison, whilst also providing group and 1 to 1 work in the centralised Therapeutic Hub. The post holder will need to prioritise work appropriately and maintain an appropriate professional OT profile while still working as an effective MDT team member. The post holder may need to provide clinical input on other wards/sites if this is required via the service.
Clinical:
To maintain and prioritise a clinical caseload with support from Band 6 OT and AHP Team Manager
To identify patients who might require OT input by undertaking standardized and non standardised assessments of the persons occupational performance. Utilising the model of human occupation as the trust identified model of care within OT.
To develop and implement OT intervention programmes, including 1:1 and group work, to evaluate and modify the OT process as necessary and to evaluate the outcomes of interventions.
To assist with the development of a ward based therapeutic day both on the ward and in the Therapeutic Hu.
To contribute to the assessment of careers needs and take appropriate action.
