The Sr. Manager, R&D Program Management drives portfolio excellence and change management across Innovation, New Product Development, and Sustaining Engineering. This role leads high-impact, cross-functional efforts that enhance portfolio value, accelerate time-to-market, transform operational effectiveness, and ensure data-driven investment decisions.
This strategic role serves as the single point of contact for R&D operations, Portfolio Insights, Project Management Best Practices, and Design Control + Global Product Development System (GPDS) process. The Sr. Manager also serves as a key liaison for BD excellence and continuous improvement, integrating advanced technologies, including AI, to elevate PMO capabilities and decision-making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Management & Insights
Own portfolio health, metrics, and reporting across all programsOwn portfolio prioritization and scoringImplement and optimize portfolio management tools and dashboardsPresent portfolio performance/health and risks to leadership and governance forums - Process Excellence & Governance
Establish and maintain design control and product delivery process standardsEnsure governance forums operate effectively and drive decision makingPromote PM best practices, templates, and continuous improvement initiativesIntegrate AI and advanced analytics to enhance forecasting and operational efficiency - Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
Recruit, develop, and manage portfolio analysts and change management PMMentor, train, and support NPD and SE project managers on execution, risk management, and resource allocationInfluence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to align priorities and resolve discrepancies - Resource & Financial Planning
Oversee resource allocation and budget management across portfolioCollaborate with Finance on long-range planning and investment analysisProvide training to functional leaders to ensure accurate resource allocations in Oneplan Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree7+ years in R&D portfolio/program management in technical or regulated environmentExpertise in portfolio tools (OnePlan, PowerBI, MS Project) and performance metricsExperience with design control and product development processesProven people management and mentoring capabilityStrategic thinking with cross-functional influence skillsExcellent communication across all levelsUp to 20% travel Preferred Qualifications:
